Part 6 of our Water Safety Series đź’§

The final layer is something that starts long before the pool.

Water awareness.

Teaching children respect for water, building familiarity, and helping them understand boundaries, all of it adds up over time.

And when you look at the full picture…

Supervision
Barriers
Skills
CPR
Awareness

You start to see how it all works together.

No single layer does it all, but together, they create a stronger foundation for water safety.

If building that foundation is something you’ve been thinking about this season, you’re not alone.

Part 5 of our Water Safety Series đź’§

This is a layer no one ever wants to need, but one that can make a critical difference.

CPR knowledge is about being prepared in the moments we hope never happen.

It doesn’t replace supervision, barriers, or skills, it supports them.

Because water safety isn’t just about prevention… it’s also about readiness.

Knowing what to do can help bring a sense of confidence and calm in an emergency.

Have you ever taken a CPR class, or is it something you’ve thought about? 👇

Part 4 of our Water Safety Series đź’§

So far we’ve talked about supervision and barriers, both important layers.

But what about when a child actually reaches the water?

That’s where skills come in.

Swim lessons aren’t just about learning how to swim…

They’re about learning how to:
• respond to water
• find air
• stay calm
• and recover

These are the skills that can make a difference in an unexpected moment.

Every child learns differently, which is why lessons are short, guided, and built step-by-step.

This is one layer that helps give both children and parents more confidence around water.

Have you started swim lessons yet, or is it something you’re thinking about? 👇

Part 3 of our Water Safety Series đź’§

Supervision is essential, but it can’t be the only layer.

That’s where barriers come in.

Pool barriers help create space between your child and the water when direct supervision isn’t possible.

This can look like:
• pool fences
• self-latching gates
• door alarms
• pool covers

It’s not about replacing supervision, it’s about adding another layer of protection.

Because real life happens… and layers are what help fill the gaps.

Part 2 of our Water Safety Series đź’§

Watching isn’t always the same as supervising.

Supervision is the first, and one of the most important, layers of water safety, but it can look different than we expect.
Active supervision means:
• staying within arm’s reach
• keeping eyes on your child the entire time
• minimizing distractions

It’s not just being nearby, it’s being fully present.

Even small moments of distraction can make a difference, which is why this layer matters so
much.

No single layer works on its own, they all work together

What does supervision look like for you during pool days? 👇

May is National Water Safety Month đź’§

If you’re heading into swim season with a little one, this is something every parent should know.

Drowning is the single leading cause of death for children 1 through 4. It can happen to anyone, but the risk is greatest for children. Drowning happens quickly and quietly, so no single prevention strategy is enough.

Water safety isn’t just one thing, it’s layers working together to help keep children safer around water.

In this series, we’re breaking down the 5 key layers:
• Supervision
• Pool barriers
• Swim lessons
• CPR knowledge
• Water awareness

No single layer replaces another, they work together.

Save this as a reminder for the season ahead, and follow along as we dive deeper into each one.

What does your family do first to prepare for swim season? Let us know below! 👇
