Today I want to chat a little bit about honoring your WANTS vs NEEDS. Something I have really struggled with, especially the more I have aged, is allowing genuine space for what I want in life, even if it is not what I need.
Yes, our needs are important and creating routines, rituals, and goal setting practices around those needs is something that should not be overlooked, but also...
Our WANTS are valid. They communicate more to us then we thend to realize and often times they are more connected to our Needs than we allow them credit for.
When we want things that don't feel in alignment with our needs and we choose to ignore them we are surpressing and neglecting parts of ourselves that need healing and nurturing. Instead, we should be acknowledging our wants and allowing space to understand why we want them. If they are not in alignment, why does it keep coming up and what may it be pointing to that needs your attention?
Also ask yourself is this really NOT in alignment with my needs or am I judging and controlling? Sometimes the cake, the nap, the day off, the TV binge, the food delivery, the subscription etc. etc. Are simply parts of ourselves begging for love and attention. So consider what you really want, how it can be a part of your healing journey, and make space for those moments too.

One of the most important lessons I have learned through my healing journey and spiritual awakening is that you can’t do and fix everything at once. Why? Because you aren’t supposed to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply bring awareness to what needs your effort. That awareness is a huge step toward the growth and change that you desire, it is game changing. You can build on it, slowly, step by step, learning along the way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we dive headfirst into everything we want to change, instead of allowing that time of awareness, we aren’t leaving room for true growth. That passage of time is where we learn, where we play with trial and error, and where we really get to tune in and learn about who we are in this moment and who we are becoming.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Next time you find yourself wanting to make a change, first take note of that wanting. Then ask yourself why? Then offer yourself gentleness and grace as you simply bring awareness to what you can do next and what your end goal is. Sit in that. Soak it up. Then take one small step at a time. You’ll reach that end goal before you know it, and it will be on your terms and for your highest benefit.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of my main focuses over the last few months has been getting more intentional with my self love and self care practices.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I used to get overwhelmed by this. I thought I had to do all the things and buy all the things to love and care for myself. As someone who struggles with routine, I "failed" over and over and over again at creating a self love practice that really nurtured me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After years of throwing money at products and "solutions" I thought would bring me self love, I realized I had it all wrong. Because you shouldn't need anything to love and care for yourself. All you really need is to intentionally choose to do so.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Somedays self love looks like giving myself a facial, lighting candles and pouring a glass of wine. Other days its allowing myself to stay in my sweats and binge watch Charmed. The "what" doesn't actually matter. It is all about the "why"!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Intentional Self Love is all about tuning into yourself and asking what do you want today, what do you need, what will light you up, what will make you feel safe, what will bring you joy? Then take small steps toward that.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
