May is Lupus awareness month. This is one of the many autoimmune illnesses that I face everyday. Take time to learn about it & educate just one person because I have educated many & it has changed their lives for the better. The diagnosis isnt a cure but it's not a death sentence. Learn, strive, & you'll survive.

New Poem:

In the morning when I wake,
My body feels like it's about to break.
Every joint, every muscle aches,
And I wonder if I made a mistake.

Did I push myself too hard yesterday?
Or is this just another lupus flare?
It's hard to tell, it's hard to say,
But one thing's for sure, it's always there.

Living with lupus is like a game,
You never know what you're going to get.
Will it be a rash or joint pain,
Or fatigue that makes you want to forget?

Sometimes it feels like a cruel joke,
The way it comes and goes at will.
But I try to find some humor in the smoke,
And laugh so hard, it hurts until.

Until the pain subsides, and I can breathe,
And feel some semblance of control.
But then again, it's hard to believe,
That lupus won't take its toll.

I try to take it day by day,
And not let lupus get the best of me.
But sometimes it's hard to keep the gray,
From creeping in, and making me feel less than free.

So here's to all my lupus friends,
Who understand the highs and lows.
May we find some humor in our bends,
And keep on going, wherever it goes.
