Final trip of the year to Appalachian Outfitters for this year. I ordered a roll of matching yellow welding rod for the job. Ended with about six feet of welding rod left over. Just enough to fix one scupper hole, maybe. Most of the boats I fixed today are brand new, no damage. Ben, the owner and I know where they WILL break so I did a preemptive reinforcement. Ben is all set to meet the hoards next spring. Thank you Ben for helping to make this a wonderful year. Time to shift the focus to Florida.

Appalachian Outfitters in Dahlonega was great today. Ben has one of the best sites I have seen. He has multiple trips to choose from and a great fleet of Jackson kayaks. Anyone interested in a used kayak should call him quickly. He is selling off half his fleet

The Weeki Wachee River is stressed. Must be a thousand rental boats in a 3 mile stretch. Far too many. The Mudd river is just upstream, the cassahowtza is only about a dozen miles away. Lock your stuff up tight if you go to the Chaz. Beautiful river but parking lot theft is an issue.

Cartecay River Experience in Elijay Georgia has class 2 to sometimes 3 water and some of the prettiest scenery around. Woody and his crew are a colorful bunch. Great place to spend the day. Don't tell him I said so, but his prices are too cheap.

Flint River Outdoors was a fabulous host today. That had a poker run via kayak. First one I've been aware of. I been involved in motorcycle and snowmobile ones but I love the idea.

Last weekend was Sea Kayaks of Georgia and Hogans Marina in the Savannah area, this weekend it is Red Neck Yacht Club and No Worries Kayaks in Piedmont and Centre, Alabama. Everybody is trying hard to get ready for the big Memorial Day season kick-off. We are trying hard to keep up. Call me soon to get your fleet up to speed.

Some folks really know how to enjoy the simple things!

KRS has a couple of old beat up boats. I am thinking of interesting ways to further damage them before I put them back into seaworthy condition. Right now I am leaning toward throwing one off a 30' roof onto concrete. That should simulate any rock collision damage one is likely to incur. Of course we will film it. Any other good ideas? Maybe I'll drag one behind my truck for a 1/4 mile. Help me tear up these boats!
