Yesterday I seen my 5 month old calf nursing on my 6/7 month bred jersey- I got them separated— My question is will my jersey make more colostrum for her calf ? I know they produce colostrum 1st- will she produce more colostrum for her calf?
I bought This calf at 2 weeks old& bottle & bucket fed her -she literally stopped drinking her milk& was eating hay& grain& doing fantastic. Last month I got my jersey. Put them together & calf started nursing again.

My karakachan is on alert - I don’t see what she’s barking at- but she does & she’s on it full force.

This makes me so happy- even Tony the pony got to go out with the cows& goats today, we set this pen up so everyone could come up to rest & no predators could get them but I had no clue If My Karakachan would let the cows& the old pony come in& they are ALL Resting& one dog in In the pen& the other is patrolling.
Before long we will start on the barn- I think it will be 24 feet long & 30 wide ( where you see the yellow post- will be the gate to let me all in) I will set up my milking stations& pens for babies sometimes you gotta start somewhere.

Good LGD’s are such a necessity on the farm. We love the karakachan’s
& now she has a friend about same age to help protect … Anatolian
What breeds of LGD do you have on your farm?

Finally got the pasture done for the goats& cows& my Karakachan herded all the goats back up to the “ temporary pen”for bed. For a 5 month old pup she’s dang sure doing a fantastic job & takes care of her livestock with pride… Now I know why everyone loves them.

A couple new additions to the farm.
We’ve came to realize we need some protection from predators,
Karakachan Dogs are so smart & Dependable.
Our Darla the jersey is 6 months bred, I’m pretty excited for her. It will be a fun experience for the kids to raise a calf from birth here on the farm.
