Here we see defending a triangle attempt in the second round of his recent MMA bout for .championship . While we know the best defense is to avoid the position, for this camp we focused heavily on escaping bad positions and patience. One of the revelations of our work was the difference in finishing a triangle in mma vs Jiu Jitsu, key factor being the gloves. When an opponent attempts to hook the leg while wearing gloves, it presents an opportunity to trap the hand and strike while posturing to prevent them from pulling your head down. Proud to see his progress and looking forward to seeing his future success in the transition to pro mma
Sat Feb 25th we will host our first kickboxing smoker. This is a great opportunity for younger fighters to get some ring experience. Matches will consist of 2, 3 minute rounds, no winners declared. Coaches and fighters please email [email protected] with your weight and approximate experience for matchups.
Congrats to everyone who leveled up today, excited to see y’alls journey continue

Great night of gi Jiu Jitsu. Thanks to everyone who showed up
Tonight as I was watching some of the new white belts, I couldn’t help but feel excited. I remembered the feeling of first learning how to shrimp and the thrill of getting that first submission. I love this journey, and hopefully can pass on as much knowledge as possible to these future practitioners.
This Sunday September 25th, we will host open mat from 11:30-1:00pm. After which you can go down to the parking lot for the annual Oaktoberfest celebration featuring vendors and German style beer! Parking is limited due to the event so we recommend parking at the Hampton train station and jumping over via Dart. Hope to see y’all there!
You can see my friend here in bottom side control. She has been training with me off and on for a few years. Although she isn’t as consistent as I’d prefer, we are all incredibly proud of the progress she’s made. She is also the only student I have that had to use her technique in a real life situation, but I’ll let her tell you that story.
The cross lapel choke is very versatile and can often open a path to other submissions. Often I find when teaching beginners that they make the mistake of trying to pull both lapels outward. A key finishing detail that has worked for me, is to pull the non choking hand straight down the center line, while the choking hand pulls across. Come out for your free trial and learn this and similar techniques
3 black belts, 30+ years of combined grappling experience on the mats tonight. Grateful is an understatement.
