I want to give a shoutout to this kid who has made the last 20 years such a joy! And an adventure! And A LOT of growing moments.

Parenting him has always been 50% great and 50% hard! Into his early teen years, I spent most of my time in the 50% hard.

Why? Because I had a story for how my kids should be!

And every time they didn’t fit the story, I got upset.

But now I spend most of my time in the 50% positive! What changed? And how do I get to have so much fun with him now?

I changed. I changed my story of who he is supposed to be and what he is supposed to do. I changed how I love him. And I changed how I love me.

And because of that - he changed! He changed how he talks with me and what he shares with me. He changed how he interacts with his sisters because he knows I always have his back.
