I’m going to post content every day, giving out tips marriage and talking about the tools that my wife and I use in our marriage of 17 years. I’m also gonna tell you when we have our intense fellowships and disagreements and how we reconciled those. When you all first got married, you did it with the best intentions. You made a promise to one another that you will be together until death. Somewhere during the journey, you all lost sight of that.

We’ve been married 17 years and if there’s one thing that I can tell you is that you for sure need God, but also you need a system.

You need a system to follow that lets you know exactly what to do when you all are in the roommate stage, when you’re disconnected, when you feel like you wanna leave, when you feel unheard, and there’s so many more.

We’ve been expected to just do marriage without truly understanding how to be married. There was a system for announcing marriage, and a system for getting engaged, and a system for the actual ceremony. Until now there hasn’t been a system in place for actually being married and becoming one.

Past trauma can cause you to view your spouse through the lens of people who hurt you and that comparison will destroy your home if you let it. 💔

Belittling your partner or assuming negative intentions doesn't protect you; it tears down the person you need to stand strong beside you. When you weaken your spouse with your words, you ultimately weaken your entire marriage. Healing requires trusting that your spouse is on your team, not against you.

Galatians 5 reminds us that the fruit of the Spirit includes love, patience, kindness, and self-control. When you speak without a filter, you aren't being "brutally honest" you’re operating without self-control. True biblical love means holding your tongue, filtering your words, and choosing connection over getting the last word.
