The NCAA has lifted its ban on cannabis for NCAA championships and postseason football, acknowledging that it does not provide a "competitive advantage."

“The NCAA drug testing program is intended to focus on integrity of competition, and cannabis products do not provide a competitive advantage. The council’s focus is on policies centered on student-athlete health and well-being rather than punishment for cannabis use.” — Josh Whitman, Council chair and Illinois athletic director

We are very glad to hear that college athletes will no longer be penalized for cannabis use by the NCAA and that those currently being penalized will have those penalties lifted. For too long athletes have been unjustly punished, most notably U.S. sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson who was suspended in 2021 for testing positive for THC and therefore could not compete at the Tokyo Olympics.
