3 tips to feeling good during pregnancy:

1.Don’t beat yourself up over your changing body. This is suppose to happen, instead make an effort to be as healthy and mindful as you can. Know that these changes are bringing forth a beautiful life to this world. Take pride in this body!

2. Don’t over indulge or over eat. I know the saying goes “you’re eating for two” but that’s not true. Focus on giving your growing baby nutrient and mineral rich foods. Your baby will absorb most of your the nutrients you give him or her, the rest will go to you. Don’t over eat, our stomachs actually shrink during this time making room for our baby so although you feel hungry there isn’t much room 😅. I know that when I over eat or give in I end up with the worst indigestion/heart burn, trust me it ain’t worth it 🙃.

3. Make a small effort to appreciate this body. You’ve been chosen to bring life into this world, you’re a vessel for life. A pregnancy, let alone a stable pregnancy is a blessing that not many us are fortunate to have. Appreciate this moment, the good and the bad. Do your hair once in a while dress up, you’ll only get to be pregnant for the first time once.

124 vs. 130 😮‍💨

Started my healthy bulking journey back in September of 2021 and now we are in September of 2022. Yes it took me a year to gain 6 pounds but I can guarantee you that the weight that I’ve put on is mostly muscle. Eating mostly clean and having what I love of course in moderation. My nutrition & exercises have not really changed. I’ve become more intuitive in my eating and now know how to gauge exactly what I need. Of course, this was not achieved over night, it has taken me years to know exactly what my body needs. Ive also dove deep into recomposition & it’s something I will preach about forever, because it does not require you to make drastic changes to achieve your goals. Slow & steady wins the race. I’ve watched people put on the weight & lose it - I didn’t want to be that person anymore.

I’ve done the macro tracking, the changing my routine around, the cutting the carbs out, more protein, no sweets etc. But what took me to the next level was not telling myself what to eat & what not to eat but understanding food & nutrients. The reason why I feed my body & train it the way I do now is beyond looks but more for my health - the looks are really just a plus.

To gain this weight before I would do all kinds of terrible things to my body aka dirty bulking. It’s not always the answer because it can actually do more harm than good. Dirty bulking for me caused so much unwanted inflammation & digestive issues. It was not worth it; as well as those issues I also would experience a lot of bingeing episodes (not very proud of those moments) - I use to just eat until almost puking. This was all during the military. The rest of my weight gain journey & how I did it will be coming soon to you. I’ve compiled everything into my Mindful Gains Guide coming to you in the coming weeks.

Deadlift transformation 😬 2016 v. 2021

Ouu, RIP to my freaking spine. This was the first year I began lifting seriously; the before picture was actually my first powerlifting meet on deployment in Kuwait. I really did not realize how terrible my form was, people really let me lift like this 😩🤣.

Man I am grateful for all the knowledge I’ve acquired along the way. Lifting terribly for at least 2 years and I really didn’t realize it up until I became injured. I messed up my groin, my hips & knees began to hurt, lower back pain etc. I was training with no intention really; 2019 up until now, I workout with intention and luckily have been able to correct a lot of my problems with lifting & band work. I can say that home workouts have been much more effective than the gym workouts I did for years. I’ve learned to build the physique I want while also correcting areas the may be in pain or weak. I approach lifting so differently now; I am extremely attentive to how every rep feels. After attending PPSC , I learned something I’ll never forget and that was “Your last set should be your best set!” Listen to your body and pay attention to how your executing the movement.

She glowing ✨

Whenever a negative thought about yourself or your life crosses your mind, I want you to stop and imagine yourself being that thought; if you can’t then it ain’t true!

I did that to myself this morning, I was so consumed with life worries and having to figure so much out. I then asked myself “Can you imagine yourself not figuring it out?” That’s when my thoughts shifted and I knew in that moment I always figure it out! I’m good, let’s keep it moving!

My affirmations:
- I love myself way too much to fall!
- I take my words seriously!
- I am more than capable to achieve what I say I will achieve!
- The spirit of GOD lives within me, there’s nothing I can’t do!
-I am abundant in all areas of my life!

Hopefully this makes sense lol! Happy Monday Friends ❤️😎
