What a day! We ended up one spot away from parking it in victory lane, but had an amazing day despite that.
Started out at the Day Motor Sports 1st annual car show. We got to see some really cool cars, shake hands with some really great folks, got a personalized tour of the facility, stocked up on tons of merch, the trailer is coming a little more full, and walked away with a first place trophy.
Trecked over to Greenville to race for the first time at Hunt County Raceway. The jr limited Heat race was the first out and it set the stage. The #218 started 4th, worked to figure out the track, and charged forward. There was no live timing, but the margin over victory for heat race #1 win in Greenville was bound to be hundredths, if not thousandths!
No point average line ups meant a 4-1 run in the heat started on the pole of the feature. The track was very technical and the hometown boys there proved to know there way around it. It took this guest some time to figure it out. Fell back to 3rd at some point. Made a solo little circle in turn 2 on the last lap and still somehow crossed the finish line 2nd.
The racing was fun, but was by far not the best part of the weekend. Childhood friends came out to watch as well as Nanny, Papa and Aunt Mammy and Dakota.
We also got to see one of our favorite little go kart racers at the big track Hayes Johnson Racing!
And one of momโs college classmates - turned our family Disney vacation planner sent mom a FB message after the heat and said โI think I just watched your son win a race!โ It truly is such a small world after all.
We are headed west for a week (or at least part of a week) at school. Next week we plan to make the trip again, just a little further east to Boothill Speedway for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series race if the weather cooperates.
There may have been a crew spot/shock specialist job offer for the weekend put on the line yesterday and thatโs something no 12 year old can say no to!
