Dallas Academy of Martial Arts

Some martial arts humor to help lighten these darkish times. Hope you’re well, looking forward to getting back on the mat!
What is the schedule during the holidays? I know Andrew is wanting to attend classes if possible.
Couple of good ones my brother in law took today.
Is the dojo open today? Phone call doesn’t go through, thought power might be out...

I want to thank all the instructors from Dallas Academy of Matial Arts that took their time to teach us a Self Defense class on Saturday August 18. I really enjoyed the class. The teachers took their time to teach us every step and help us when we needed. I highly recommend the classes.
Free women’s Self-Defense seminar this Saturday, Noon to 2:00 pm. Spots available. Do something for your own safety! Contact us for more details.

Offering personally tailored classes to children, teens, and adults, our goal is simple: to give you the best martial arts training.

We talk a lot about the benefits of practicing martial arts, but it truly is different for everyone. Today, we ask you: What is your favorite part about practicing martial arts?

[05/06/20]   You may know by now that Texas Governor Abbott, has authorized gyms to reopen on Monday, May 18.

I have decided to be a bit more cautious and have tentatively scheduled our reopening for Monday, June 1.

I want to see new confirmed infections, and deaths attributed to COVID 19, stabilize or trend downward before risking the collective health of our Instructors, students, and members of the D.A.M.A. family.

Adults can benefit from martial arts as well. Practicing martial arts at home can lead to better heart health, decreased stress, and improved coordination and flexibility.

Forty years of I CAN AND I WILL DO MY BEST.

Practicing martial arts is a great way for kids to build mental and physical strength. We're about enhancing self-control, concentration, and discipline, all essential factors in determining success in adulthood.

Our instructors are constantly posting workout videos on our page: Students of Dallas Academy of Martial Arts. Will you join us?

“Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes.” -Gautama B.

Let's hear what you all think!

Make sure you're getting out in the sunshine and practicing! Your character is who you are when nobody is watching.

Do you have a kid with pent-up energy at home? Not only is our martial arts facility an avenue for that energy, but also a great place for your child to stay physically active and gain more self confidence.

[04/14/20]   New video challenges posted:
Mon., April 13, and Tue., April 14.

Never forget about the third part. All great martial artists have a strong core. Planks are a great way to strengthen that part of your body, as much of your power comes from it.

[04/14/20]   Parents: Check your Spam folder for missed invite.

Practicing martial arts can improve your overall athleticism. Do you want to jump higher, run faster, lift heavier, or just become stronger in general? Martial arts could be the path.

[04/09/20]   Students: The Corona Closure Challenge has been issued.

[04/08/20]   Students: Have YOU worked through our latest challenge video?

We're all about staying active. And you can still achieve that summer body while stuck at home. Start with a full-body workout in order to stimulate all of your muscles. From there, your workouts should vary based on your specific goals.

Just because you're at home doesn't mean you can't work on focusing your eyes, mind, and body.

There's nothing wrong with an at-home workout. How are you staying active right now?

What is good self discipline? Forty years of I CAN AND I WILL DO MY BEST.

Don't forget that outside of major holidays, we're open year-round with the same schedule! Come drop in!

[03/23/20]   Students, Parents, Friends...
You may know by now that we are required to close until at least April 3, per state mandate to combat the COVID 19 threat. We are complying.
We plan to post a series of video challenges to keep our students engaged until we are allowed to reopen. Check our page each day to keep up with our series, and the latest information about our status.
In the meantime: Stay in as much as possible, If you must go out remain a safe distance of 6 feet, Sanitize immediately upon your return.
Together we will make it through. For now we need discipline. I'm confident our students have it in abundance. Stay safe.
Master Instructor Garcia, D.A.M.A.

[03/16/20]   Students, parents, and friends:
We have adjusted our curriculum to address concerns over the virus. For the next few weeks we will skip grappling, and close-range drills. We will minimize all contact between students and instructors.
We ask that all students experiencing any of the symptoms described by the CDC, please stay home. Our instructors will do the same.
Sanitize before walking in, and wash as you need while in attendance.
I don’t want to overreact, but I do not want to underestimate the seriousness of our community challenge.
Respectfully, Master Instructor Garcia

[03/16/20]   Yes, we are open during Spring Break.

40 years of focusing on the eyes, mind, and body.

Here at DAMA, we teach the art of self defense, not the ability to seek out and win fights.
