🇲🇽 OUR CULTURE • OUR STRENGTH • OUR LEGACY 🇲🇽
As Pegasus Softball celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, we're proud to spotlight Jesse Martinez, whose story reflects the beauty of embracing two cultures, finding community, and celebrating his heritage. 🥎❤️
Proudly Mexican American, Jesse grew up surrounded by Spanish, family traditions, music, and food that connect him to his roots.
💬 “Living between two languages and cultures has broadened my horizons and deepened my connection to the people around me.”
Nearly four years ago, Jesse moved to Dallas with an invitation to join the Mad Batters. Just one month before Spring 2023, he was welcomed by teammates, league members, and board leaders.
What began as an opportunity to play softball became a place to belong.
Since then, Jesse has represented Dallas at four Gay Softball World Series, joining two teams his first two years before his own team qualified for the next two.
His commitment extended beyond the field when he served as Assistant Commissioner this past year, an honor he holds close to his heart.
For Jesse, his journey is about more than softball or leadership. It's about embracing his identity and sharing it with others.
💬 “Growing up Hispanic comes with its challenges, but I wouldn't give up being bicultural and bilingual because I love sharing my Mexican culture.”
Seeing Hispanic and Latino members recognized within Pegasus makes that pride even more meaningful.
💬 “I feel truly honored to see our community and heritage being celebrated this month.”
Jesse's story reminds us that our cultures don't divide us. They enrich our experiences, strengthen our connections, and make our community more vibrant. ❤️
This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Jesse and the traditions, stories, and identities that make Pegasus stronger.
