Exciting news! A new pizza and b**r garden will be opening up across from our neighborhood (next to the Dollar Tree and post office). Fortunate Son is expanding to a second location, giving us another great dining/cocktail spot so close to us. Side note: check out The Whistling Pig a few doors down if you haven't already.

Opening date is TBD, but a lot of work has already been done on the space. Did someone say Happy Hour?

The State Fair of Texas begins tomorrow, Sept. 25! Just a few miles from our neighborhood, this annual Texas tradition is a must-visit event. Looks like another breakfast place is planned along Garland Rd. in the future! Norma's Cafe has filed for a certificate of occupancy at the old Dickey's BBQ location. No official word on when they plan to open, but there's been a flurry of activity in that space that looks like remodeling work. Hopefully we'll hear more soon!

Our spring community garage sale is this April 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance to the community is at 2100 Ash Grove Way. Gate opens at 8 a.m.!

NYC FAVORITE 'MAMAN' BRINGING FRENCH CHARM TO CASA LINDA: East Dallas is getting a major dose of floral aesthetics and famous cookies! 🍪🌸 Maman, the beloved New York City-based French bakery and café, has filed permits to open a new location in the historic Casa Linda Plaza.

The $450,000 project involves a complete transformation of the 2,366-square-foot space that formerly housed Schlotzsky's (Suite 124). Known for their rustic-chic décor, hanging plants, and "Oprah-approved" Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookies, Maman will be stripping the old deli space down. The renovation includes a brand-new kitchen, updated mechanical systems, and the installation of their signature interior finishes to create a cozy, European garden atmosphere.

Construction is scheduled to begin this spring on April 5, 2026, with a target completion date of November 5, 2026
