Some get ready. Some stay ready.
Will is a great example of what it means to stay ready. Congratulations to Will on an incredible performance, winning all four of his matches by submission! đ
In jiu-jitsu, competition preparation shouldnât begin when a tournament is announced. Itâs built through consistent training, showing up regularly, sharpening your skills, and pushing yourself even when there isnât a competition on the calendar.
When you train consistently, youâre not scrambling to make up for lost time when an opportunity to compete comes along. Youâve already put in the work.
Thatâs why competing should be considered by those who train regularly. You donât have to be perfect, and you donât have to win every round in the gym. But you should have a solid foundation, consistent mat time, and a commitment to putting in the work.
Competition is where you test your preparation, not where you begin it.
Willâs performance is a great reminder of what consistent training can look like when itâs time to step on the mats. He doesnât wait for a tournament to start training like a competitor. He stays ready.
Some get ready. Some stay ready. Which one are you?
