The official statement from Thomas Mattice’s management team following the controversial decision this past Friday night in Hermosillo, Mexico. The fight was abruptly called off before the start of 7th round due to a significant cut above Rocky Hernandez’s left eye. The ringside doctor encouraged the referee to wave off the fight due to Hernandez’s corner inability to stop the bleeding. Upon video review, the DAZN commentary team identified the cut that caused the fight to be called off was from a right uppercut from Mattice. Will the WBA overturn the ruling following the appeal?

The countdown begins for the highly anticipated bout between Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (35-2-0) and Thomas Mattice (22-3-1) for the WBA Continental Americas Super Featherweight title on September 13 in Hermosilio, Mexico.
