If you’ve watched me tell my story, there is a very specific reason I tell it the way I do.
It’s because 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁.
When people hear that I learned etiquette in the third grade while my dad was battling addiction, AND that I never stopped learning it, they understand that this wasn’t something I picked up because it became marketable.
I’ve been studying it for 31 years. 31 🤯
That history is part of my 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦.
Your audience does not need every chapter of your life.
They need the chapter that helps them understand:
Why this?
Why you?
And why couldn’t you leave it alone?
Don’t tell us 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲.
