We are a movement facility inspired by the Ido Portal Method and Movement Culture. Our practice is centered around moving better so that you can move more.

A dedicated community exploring and developing a diverse movement practice, inspired by the Ido Portal Methodolgy. We are not a fitness first facility but realize many outwardly oriented goals are attributes of a practice and process. We use some traditional, some non-traditional methods to help our students become better able to move and establish terminology to allow them to understand the learn

Fitness isn’t wrong, it’s just incomplete. Most of us inherited a narrow idea of what it means to work with the body, one shaped by isolated parts, measurable outputs, performance, aesthetics, and the visual development of muscle. These things can have value, but they are not the whole picture and ultimately end up limiting our possibilities and freedom within the body.

Movement practice asks a different kind of question.

“Am I fit?” —> becomes —> “How responsive or available am I?”

Available to sense, move, learn, adapt, and continue building a richer map for navigating experience. One that grows in complexity and integrates into a larger, orderly, coherent way of relating to oneself and the world.

This is the first in an ongoing series exploring the distinctions between fitness and movement practice. The full reflection is now on the blog, with a short audio version included for those who prefer to listen.

A month-long exploration into one of the most foundational and adaptable movement patterns we have.

The cartwheel is more than a trick. It develops coordination, rhythm, spatial awareness, weight transfer, inversion, elasticity, and locomotion.

This LAB is designed for:
— complete beginners
— current students wanting refinement
— movers interested in soft acrobatics and locomotion
— anyone wanting to feel more fluid and adaptable

Over four Wednesdays, we’ll explore:
• foundational mechanics
• developmental progressions
• locomotion patterns
• directional changes
• smoother transitions
• creative variations

Build the conditions that allow movement to emerge with more ease and confidence.

Wednesdays in June
5:30–6:30pm

Limited spots available.

Why many don’t come practice with us…
they aren’t able to not be able. The skills we offer seem out of reach yet this is exactly where things can shift.

Learning begins with not knowing and not being able. Yet this moment often feels like failure, so it’s avoided. We are taught to perform what we can already do yet Practice asks something different.

Instead of turning away from limitation, many of our students turn toward it. They allow themselves to be in contact with what is unclear, unstable, unresolved. By interrupting continuity we can no longer rely on what is already known.

To not be able creates the conditions for something new to emerge.

Practice begins here. Practice is what we are about.

Interested? Come join us for one of our daily practice sessions. Grow to see the how inside of the what, surround yourself with others curious of the same.

A focused container for building a handstand practice that lasts.

This lab is structured more like semi-private coaching within a group setting, high contact, high attention, supported by the shared energy of others working through the same process.

Each participant receives a program to follow, with direction on how to practice both inside and outside of the weekly session.

The emphasis is on identifying and troubleshooting the common roadblocks that slow progress:

•balance
•line
•entry and exit
•consistency of practice
•understanding where effort helps and where it interferes

Over the years we’ve supported more students in unlocking their handstand than most places in the U.S., and certainly within Texas. The aim here is not quick fixes, but developing something that continues to improve over time.

All levels welcome.

May : Wednesdays
4 x 1 hour sessions

We live in a time of endless information cycles, lacking a natural rhythm. New methods, exercises, apps, systems appear daily promising better/faster results. Yet most feel more overwhelmed than ever.

More inputs often result in less integration. Too much noise, too many competing signals, too many directions pulling at once. This is what modern ‘movement’ has become inside a culture of distraction.

Screens have replaced in-person learning and contact with others, content has replaced context.

When we come together in these longer format weekends there’s a palpable shift. New possibilities emerge without needing to be forced or hurried. This event is about creating the space and opportunity to focus on the optimal conditions for learning allowing movement to organize on its own.

Spend more time working on less, enjoy the fruits of renewed energy.

We rarely take the time needed to go deep, yet when we do, we are rewarded with insights from beyond.

Our Day Of Movement has been designed to highlight many distinct practice blocks within the course of full day together.

Somatics, Ground Movement, Stillness, Acrobatics, Partner Work, and the myriad of ways we relate to physicality and practice.

A day inside of the work, open to all levels.

See our bio link for event details or DM to sign up.

One of the advantages of working in a community is the feedback we get from others inside of practice. Today we explored tactical cues to enhance brought tension into specific areas.

In the handstand, there should be a full body effort to keep the position. Our partner exposes dead areas in turn challenging them to come back online. This new informed rigidity is the key to unlocking the door of this position.

We’re exploring handstands now twice weekly, W/F. All classes are drop in friendly

HANDSTAND SHAPEA WORKSHOP

A workshop designed for all levels of practice, from those learning to balance to those refining control and creativity in their shapes.

We’ll explore the foundations that support a strong, responsive handstand: alignment, tension, breath, and play. Through guided progressions, partner drills, and mindful repetition, we’ll look at how shape becomes an expression of awareness, not just a position to achieve. For this point we’ll branch off into various shapes including straddles, scissors, tucks and many more!

What to expect:

⚡️ Structured warm-up and preparation
⚡️Technical focus on alignment and shape transitions
⚡️Exploration of movement within stillness
Individual feedback and coaching

“Individuality isn’t lost in the collective; it’s refined by it.”

How do we, as individuals, benefit from being part of something larger than ourselves?

This kind of integration is not just a nice idea, it’s embedded in the fabric of nature. We live in relationship: to others, to our environment, and to the communities we inhabit. These relationships shape who we are and what we become, expanding the possibilities available to us.

A cell in the body offers a clear metaphor: it is fully itself, defined by its membrane and function, yet inseparable from the organism it supports. Isolated, it dies. Self-serving, it threatens the whole. But in concert, it contributes to something far greater than itself, while also fulfilling its own purpose.
Our practices and communities are no different. They are living systems; constantly evolving, stagnating, or declining. This movement happens at both the individual and group level.

A community may be thriving while individual practices wither, or individual growth may flourish while communal threads weaken. Like an untended garden, neglect or imbalance leads to overgrowth, scarcity, and strain.

In a world that prizes efficiency, it can seem easier to go it alone. No schedules to juggle, no logistics to navigate, no social friction. Sometimes that’s a valid choice. But there’s also a cost—a subtle erosion of depth, creativity, and resilience that only comes from being in the room with others.

Shared practice expands us. It multiplies insight. It sharpens attention. It makes the invisible visible.

As many of our students mature in their journey, the work naturally becomes more nuanced, more personal. The temptation to isolate can grow. Add in the velocity of modern life, and it’s easy to prioritize convenience over connection. I know the feeling, I’ve been there too.

But I also know the truth: practicing together is an exponentiator. See you in studio soon!
