Update from Natalie, Brookelynn's mom while at Junior Gold.

Junior Gold for Miss B is over- she placed 229 out of 363, 3rd for 18U Oregon girls and 4th 18U PNW girls. She averaged 161 for the four rounds. Not necessarily where she had hoped, but she feels good about her performance overall. I’m so proud of her and she learned so much! These conditions are extremely difficult, the oil patterns are meant to challenge you mentally and physically. They have different oil patterns “sport shots” throughout the week and will only post what they are after the competition. So, they had to guess based on how their ball was rolling and reacting. This can be different lane to lane even. There are long, short and medium patterns. You have to stand in different places, have different targets and use different balls depending on the oil pattern. There were two Team USA girls in Brookelynn’s squad who were usually bowling well over 200 every game, and the oil patterns were proving difficult for them too. For people not in the bowling world it’s hard to understand how bowling can be a sport… for me too, playing sports my whole life… but this week was something I’ve never seen before. We even had one girl who couldn’t finish bowling one day.

Overall it was a great week! Many colleges have been reaching out to Brookelynn, which is one of the main reasons for high schoolers to come, in my opinion. It’s at least been encouraging for her. On to the survivor round tonight and then making our way home! Hooray!

Wishing Brookelynn McDaniel good luck and good bowling at Junior Gold in Minnesota this week. We are so incredibly proud that she qualified and is there to represent! Go Brookelynn!!!! We love you! Kick some butt!
