Evidence Based Personalized Baseball Training

Better feedback. Better Solutions. Better hitters. ⚾️💥

At ProMotion Performance Academy, our hitting system isn’t built around forcing every athlete into the same swing or running players through random drills.

We use a systems-based approach influenced by ecological dynamics and self-organization. We create tasks and training environments that give hitters a problem to solve, then allow each athlete to explore and organize movement around their own individual solution.

That’s where tools from fit perfectly into what we do.

⚾ Weighted Hitting Balls provide immediate feedback at contact. Different ball weights challenge the athlete to organize their body and barrel differently, helping hitters develop the ability to deliver a stronger, more stable, and more precise barrel through the hitting zone.

💥 Smash Factor Balls allow us to increase the difficulty and intensity of the environment while controlling the demands on the athlete. We can create harder, more representative training environments safely, giving hitters opportunities to make adjustments, solve problems, and learn without every rep needing to be a full-intensity baseball.

The equipment isn’t the system.

The environment + the task + the athlete = the learning.

Our job as coaches isn’t always to give athletes the answer. It’s to design environments where they can find effective solutions themselves.

We don’t teach one swing. We develop adaptable hitters.

Huge thanks to Driveline Baseball for continuing to develop training tools that allow us to challenge our athletes and create better learning environments.

Pitching and hitting may both be complex systems, but they are fundamentally different skills.

Pitching is a closed skill.

The pitcher starts with the ball, controls the timing, chooses the pitch type, selects the location, and initiates every action. The environment is relatively predictable because the pitcher creates it.

Hitting is an open skill.

The hitter has none of those advantages. Every swing is a response to a problem that must be solved in real time. Velocity, movement, release point, pitch type, location, count, and game situation are constantly changing. The hitter doesn’t control the environment—he adapts to it.

This distinction matters when designing training.

Many hitters spend hours training in closed environments:

* Same toss
* Same timing
* Same location
* Same speed

The problem? Games aren’t closed environments.

The best hitters develop movement solutions, visual skills, timing adaptability, and decision-making under uncertainty. They learn to organize their body around information that is constantly changing.

Pitchers create chaos.

Hitters learn to solve it.

The goal of hitting development isn’t to build the perfect swing.

It’s to build a mover capable of adapting the swing to whatever problem the pitcher presents.

Most traditional training still follows a “lesson model” —one a week, do a bunch of “eyewash” drills that don’t transfer, get corrected, repeat. The problem? That’s not how humans actually learn complex movement.

The lesson model assumes progress comes from being told what to do. But skill development doesn’t work that way. Real learning comes from exploration, problem-solving, and adapting in real time. That’s why so many big leaguers and high-level athletes were largely self-taught. They learned by playing, experimenting, failing, adjusting, and discovering what worked for their body — not by chasing perfect mechanics.

Our training system is built on those same principles.

We prioritize:
• Self-discovery over constant instruction
• Movement quality over rigid mechanics
• Game-like environments over isolated drills
• Ownership of learning over dependency on a coach

This February, we’re launching new programs designed around this approach — where athletes actually learn, not just follow directions.

What’s included:
• Up to 60% off small group training
• 24/7 gym access
• A system designed to build adaptable, confident, resilient movers

If you’re tired of lessons that don’t transfer and want training that actually sticks, this is your opportunity.
