As Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center, our primary mission is to provide supplementary funding, augmenting the support from the City and user fees, to ensure the availability of top-notch facilities that elevate the aquatic experience.
Our Leisure pool is getting a major update and refit. It's been drained and the old surface blasted away. The old fountain has been removed to make room for our new Blue Whale slide. The work is progressing quickly and we plan to refill it within a week. This is how Dallas Oregon keeps this jewel of a facility operating.

Spa Pump:
At our older aquatic center, things tend to break down. Right now, the pump that powers the jets in the hot tub (spa) needs some attention. The contractor we've hired will come on December 29 to check if the pump can be fixed on-site or if it needs to be removed for repair or replacement. This inspection will cost the pool $1700, and the actual repair will add to that. We expect the total cost to be up to $6000. The good news is that once the work starts, it shouldn't take long since the parts are easy to get.
We currently have $4500 set aside for this repair and have been saving for the planned resurfacing of the leisure pool. Using $1500 from our reserves to cover the rest will affect the resurfacing project. Your donations right now would help fix the spa and keep funding the leisure pool improvements.
We're still dedicated to supporting this important facility, especially as others have shut down. We live in a unique community where we feel safe, comfortable, and connected.

Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center Updates and News
Thank you so much for your generous donations and banner renewals. From October 2024 through October 2025, we raised $39,840, showcasing the incredible dedication of our supporters.
Your contributions allowed us to complete a significant upgrade to the pool lighting system.
Replacing the outdated pool lights cost $10,750, and thanks to your generosity, the Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center was able to cover the entire expense. The pool now enjoys bright, new lighting, - an improvement warmly received during its presentation to the city council.
One visually impaired swimmer, who previously needed assistance, shared that the new lighting now allows him to navigate the pool independently. This success is both inspiring and vital as we continue to make the aquatic center a safe and welcoming space for all.
Looking ahead, our next major project includes:
Removing the current plaster and resurfacing the leisure pool, estimated at $90,000, and replacing the fountain with a child slide at $40,000. The fountain currently requires costly maintenance. The city has allocated $115,000 for these improvements, with the Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center contributing the remaining $15,000 to finalize this critical project.
Additionally, other necessary upgrades are planned, including:
• resurfacing locker room floors,
• replacing lockers,
• upgrading HVAC wiring, and
• replacing tables and chairs in the party room and adding racks for easier storage.
Supporting these projects depends on the continued replenishment of the pool Trust Fund within the city budget.

Moonfall theater donated a performance to FDAC. We provided the refreshments and sold the tickets and they did the rest. Guests were treated to a wonderful evening of music and entertainment. Thank you Moonfall for your generosity and a delightful evening!!

Our last dinner in Maui. Gelato sundae.
We had a great turn out for our patron interviews. Nearly 20 enthusiastic patrons gave their time to share their experiences and feelings regarding the pool. All of their video interviews are posted on our website, fdacoregon.org . You can also find them on our YouTube channel, Friends of the Dallas Oregon Aquatic Center. We will not be posting them here due to the Facebook length restrictions.

The Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center will conduct interviews of happy pool patrons on 7-8 February in the party room at the pool. These video interviews will focus on the pool and it's benefits to our community. They appear on this page for all the world to marvel at you greatness.
