We are so proud of our WHOAH delegates who represented Houston the best way we know how - scoring goals 🏒 Each of our Houston gals scored at LEAST one goal. Vivian went above and beyond and went for a Cowgirl Hat Trick in her very first tournament!!! But the cherry on top was our very own fearless leader Fran Shuman scoring on her BIRTHDAY! 🎉 Check out the video to hear the Cowgirls serenade Fran 🥰

Today we played the last game of the inaugural WHOAH Summer league.

What a season it was!!!
3 teams - 2 goalies and 39 players with wide range of previous hockey experience.
12 games - 6 of them ended in a tie!
We played hard and we had fun!
We connected with old friends and made new ones!

Thank you, teams Sharknadoes, Summer Sirens and Beach, Please! for making our first season a memorable time! Camaraderie, sportsmanship, respect, loud cheers for your own and opposing team players - those were the highlights of our games!

Congratulations to the team Sharknadoes for becoming the first WHOAH league Champs!

Huge thank you to the scorekeeper of the WHOAH games and the planner of the End-of-season party, Claudia Brown!

WHOAH Fall league games will start on September 8 at Deep South Ice and Sports Complex. Games will be played at 8:35 pm. Come see us at our new home!

Thank you so much to Hockey Day In Houston for all the support for the past two years!
Without your generosity, WHOAH would not be where we are today. Because of the generous donation from 2026 Hockey Day in Houston, WHOAH was able to take the leap and actually start a women’s league! With 3 teams, 39 skaters, and 2 goalies in our first season, we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Special Thank you to our friends from the Hockey Day in Houston Planning Committee who attended the WHOAH league game on August 10th and participated in the Ceremonial puck drop - Marc Tushnet, James Lightbody, Ryan Brooks, Matt Savage (Mission Control Houston Hockey podcast), and Jim Malloy!

We look forward to continuing to partner with Hockey Day in Houston in the future. Here is to great things to come! 🧡💚❤️💙

This article highlights the efforts of many Houston-area hockey organizations, including WHOAH, to grow the sport! Yes, we are a part of the movement to bring NHL to Houston!!!

In the midst of an office lease having been signed in Austin, Texas as NHL expansion efforts continue, a new data set has shown that Houston does have the leg up in terms of hockey audience.

The fog on the ice had our WHOAH women feeling like rockstars! They weren't going to 'mist' their opportunity to have a great time at a Saturday drop-in 😂 That's hockey in Houston baby! WHOAH Summer Women's League was a great success with 3 full teams and a waitlist! Seeing such interest, we decided to keep it going! And we are happy to announce that Women's Hockey league will be moving to a new home, brand new rink at Deep South Ice and Sports Complex!

If you want to play women's ice hockey, this league is for you, no matter your age (18+), previous hockey experience or skill level! All levels are ABSOLUTELY WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED! Teams will be balanced to ensure parity.

Fall League Overview:
Season Duration: 12 weeks (September 8 – November 24)
Location: Deep South Ice and Sports Complex
(8925 Harlem Rd, Richmond, TX 77407)
Date and Time: Tuesdays; 8:35 p.m. - 9:50 p.m. (75 minutes of ice time).
Format: 13 skaters and one goalie per team, 3 teams preferred.
All games will have an official and a scorekeeper.

Registration Options:
Skater: $250 (Full 12-week season).
We do have a partial payment plan: $125 initial payment to register and secure your spot, with the second $125 payment due by October 15, 2026.
Goalie: $125 (Full 12-week season).
Sub: $25 (Per game). With 3-team league, subs will be invited from the team with the “bye” week in the schedule, and no sub fee will be required. If spots are still available, team captains might invite non-league subs ($25 fee).

Our skates are friendly, no-pressure, no-contact, no-cussing, no-fighting... Well, for the most part.

🏒Inaugural WHOAH Summer league will wrap up on August 17th, but until then, come to Bellerive Ice every Monday and cheer on our teams:

🏒Women-only Stick-and-puck sessions have been very popular among our players of all skill levels!
Only 3 sessions left this summer (July 26, August 9, August 16).
Spots are filling fast, and we can only register 15 skaters (including goalies) for each session.
If you want to work on your skating, passing, shooting, goalkeeping in a friendly, no-pressure environment, this is a great opportunity!
We practice on half-ice (the other half is used by the Storm girls program).
Our Stick-and-puck sessions are exclusively for women 18+.
