Running, oh how I missed you ❤️👟🏃🏾♀️. I don’t miss the parking spot wars during peak times though 😡. I’m so glad I didn’t go there with my parking spot opponent this morning.
Once I got going I had to calm myself down a bit though. Two miles into my run I saw a group of people with a sign that read “Free Prayer.” Sitting in picnic chairs were an older Black couple, a Caucasian couple, an older Caucasian man, a Latina woman, and an Asian man.
God laid Psalm 2:8 before me and displayed what Revelations 7:9 looks like here on earth. I know for a fact had I went clean off on Honda CRV two miles prior I would not have been in a heart and mental space to embrace this beautiful group of people. I encouraged them in the Lord and they prayed for me as well. It was beautiful.
Be encouraged ya’ll. Don’t let folks steal your joy. And keep your eyes open to opportunities to be a light.

What a month this has been. I’m feeling super humbled, reflective, and grateful. I was able to knock out the Grit September Fitness Challenge at and the 100 mile in support of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
It felt so good to do something for myself and for a cause to benefit others.
Are there any challenges you conquered this month? Or perhaps you’re still in the overcoming phase. If you’re still pushing through stay encouraged 💪🏾. Now back to my first love I go: RUNNING 🏃🏾♀️😍👟

I discovered Ravi Zacharias when preparing for a run. I decided to search for a podcast to coast to. I came across Let My People Think and decided to take a listen. About three minutes into the podcast I knew I would have to listen again and take notes. About halfway through the podcast he said something that stopped me in my tracks. “You prove God’s word to be true whether you believe it or not.” Wow! Such a profound truth wrapped in a simple sentence. I listened to the episode again while running and then again when I got home. Since then I’ve admired the great apologist; many times referring to something he stated in one of his teachings, lectures, sermons, or panel discussions.
I am forever grateful for his careful in-depth view of some of biggest hairiest questions we, believers, get to explain and defend for the sake of the Gospel.
Thank you Mr. Zacharias. I appreciate you and will continue to pray for you and your family.

I’m really praying this movement goes beyond the pavement into policy.

Hey Friends, can you believe this was us 8 years ago? We all met in a room at Concord Church that was meant for 10 people and ended up moving to a larger room because 68 people showed up. Who would have thought this many people in Oak Cliff and further south were interested in learning how to run or sharpen their running skills. There are so many memories from the first C25K (Couch to 5K) running/walking program I led in collaboration with Concord Church. And the more I learn the more I realize how much grace you all and God gave me. 😆
You wanna know the truth behind the success of this program?
🔹A friend who encourages me in person and when I’m not around. Alexandria Gilliard
🔹A sister who opened her mouth and stated she wanted to take charge of her health but needed help. Kerrie Barree
🔹A church that supports their members’ ideas. Concord Church
🔹A willing spirit that flew to Atlanta to get certified in coaching distance running. (Me)
🔹Walking by faith and not by sight when God told me to have an early morning running class in Oak Cliff. Mind you at the time all running classes and clinics were north of I30 at the time. (Me again 😁)
🔹Minority owned grass roots fitness organizations that supported my vision instead of telling me what to do, which they would have had the right to do given they both had much more experience serving my target demographic. (Sporty Afros and National Black Runner’s Association)
Friends, do not despise small beginnings. Do not think your ideas are silly or too grand. Chances are they are not grand enough if it doesn’t take faith to achieve them.
And you know the wild part? I’ve been moving in silence for a reason, mainly for me. But stay tuned for the second wind. My dreams are bigger and bolder than ever. 💪🏾 🏃🏾♀️

A super big shout to to Mrs. Janie Simmons and her Fall Festival team for allowing the Cornerstone Gaining Life Balance (GLB) Group to have a fruit kabob station at the annual Fall Festival. The fruit station was a hit! The bran bites were a hit for some and a miss for others but we are going to go back to the lab and tweak the bran bites recipe some more. Bran has a different taste than muffins made with white flour. So we kind of expected the need to really “sell” the bran bite muffins 😁. All in all fun times were had and it was such a joy to serve in this way!

This event started it all. 8 years ago a group of us from Cornerstone Baptist Church(Dallas,TX) ‘s Beloved Ministry entered a 10K race after training for three months. When many of the women finished injury free I remember sharing with Laura (another volunteer) “I think I could be a running coach.” Witnessing the ladies set a goal, work towards that goal, and cross the finish line felt great and purposeful. This set in motion the beginnings of Runner's Revelations. I’ve gone on to teach running classes here and there. And guess what? The feeling I get when someone crossing the finish line is just as great as it was back then.

When I receive messages like this I see them as victories for my clients and an affirmation for me. This passion I have for running goes beyond my desire to stay in shape. Leading group runs and running classes allows me to experience folks aim higher and dig deeper. It’s amazing!
I encourage you to explore your passion and never stop growing in it. I also encourage you to explore how your passion can be used to equip, empower, and/or build up others.
This right here is so much more than about running and I’m grateful to be a part of it! *I was given permission to post this text*

I consider these experiences a gift. For the past 8 weeks I assisted with the Gaining Life Balance class at Cornerstone Baptist Church. They have one more month of learning, growing, and encouraging each other within the GLB program. It’s been a delight to serve as the fitness coach.
When a person decides they want to improve their quality of life by changing their eating and exercise habits, it often times come with a lot of vulnerability about where they are and where they want to be. You have questions that you may not want to ask because it reveals how much you don’t know. Your body experiences stuff it hasn’t experienced in awhile or ever before. So to be invited into someone’s journey is not something I take for granted.
