When even an eternity feels too short to learn this beautiful art form, I feel truly grateful for the opportunity to guide and mentor my wonderful students. It gives me great joy to present the next group of Nrithyarpanam students as they perform their Salangai Pooja on September 20th. Congratulations on winning the 3rd place at unique dance competition- The senior category was very competitive and ever proud to see all the hard work on stage. More than winning - the Students stole the hearts of many spectators that the same dance team and the very same performance is being requested to be performed at multiple shows across Dallas. Another prestigious competition to be a part of - American Natya idol. A wonderful platform appreciating our rich traditional classical dances. More than happy to share that Nrithyarpanam Academy of Performing Arts Students have won first place in senior and junior category. On the solo category- our little Haisni Raj got a special mention and the entire team is qualified for the finals ( nationals ) at st.louis. So wonderful see my kids learning and sharpening their skills as they grow !! Kudos girls ❤️
Shyam Tori is a beautiful bhajan that tells the story of Radha wanting to play Krishna's flute. Throughout the song, she tries to convince him that she can be better than him. Radha wishes to trade her head jewelry for his peacock feather, her chunari for his dhoti, and her bangles for his form. She even challenges Krishna to carry multiple pots like the gopikas, eventually breaking one with a stone and laughing mischievously, saying, 'This is what you do, Krishna!' Finally, she dresses him up like herself, smearing makeup on his face and doing his hair. When she steps back, she is stunned by his beauty, despite the ridiculous makeup. In the end, Krishna gives her his flute, but Radha, realizing she cannot be Krishna, holds it close to her heart instead."
