Conduct annually a unique event, The Grand National Livestock Expo, Horse Show, & Rodeo, and continue to encourage youth participation in the agricultural industry. The next generation of agricultural leaders is already hard at work. 🌾🐄

Each year, the Grand National Jr. Livestock Show brings talented young exhibitors to the Cow Palace to demonstrate their knowledge, responsibility, and livestock handling skills while receiving valuable feedback from some of the country’s leading judges. This year, seven scholarships will be awarded with support from the Uccelli Foundation, EventHub, and the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office.

📅 Applications must be postmarked by September 18
🎤 Interviews will take place October 2

Join us in supporting the young agriculturalists who are carrying these traditions forward and preparing for careers across the industry.

Two nights specifically in our Cow Palace history stand out, it was always the Grateful Dead making their magic happen in the arena, but it was their debut with us in 1974 with their Wall of Sound performance that always gets the headlines. Their three-story sound system consisted of 48 McIntosh MC2300 amplifiers and over 600+ speakers, delivering 28,000 Watts of power that made history that night.

In this episode of our “Guess What’s Coming to the Cow Palace?” docu-series, our team heads up the street to McClaren Park’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheater for the 24th Annual Jerry Day Jerry Day (official) where we had the chance to hear from fans about the stories and details behind these most memorable Dead shows, but many other Cow Palace events too.

When emergencies happen, the Cow Palace is ready thanks to partners like the San Mateo County Large Animal Evac organization San Mateo County Large Animal Evacuation Group who you’ll get to know in this episode of our “Guess What’s Coming to the Cow Palace?” docu-series. Our county extends from literally our property down to the Santa Cruz County line and out to East Palo Alto, and with that comes thousands of large animals that many residents may not know live nearby.

Whether you’re a large animal owner yourself or would like to volunteer in some capacity, this edition is a great way to get to know part of their team that helps make it all happen for San Mateo County.
