Race week is here, and at this point, being ready isn’t just about the miles you’ve put in.

Take some time this week to read through the PM2HR Athlete Guide. Know where you’re going, what to expect, how the shuttles work, where your drop bag will be, and what you’ll need on race morning.

The more you know before you get to Pilot Mountain, the more you can focus on the trail once you’re there.

Give the Athlete Guide a read, get your questions answered, and then enjoy race week. We’ll see you Saturday!

Athlete guide can be found on our website through the link in our bio.

One week from now, the training will be done. There won’t be another long run that makes you feel more ready. At some point, you just have to trust the work you’ve put in.

Now is the time to start thinking about the mental side of the race.

What do you want to remind yourself of when race morning comes? What’s your mantra, your goal, or the thought you’ll come back to when things get hard?

Drop yours in the comments. Let’s give each other a few things to carry toward Hanging Rock. 👇

Race Day Shuttles

Getting to the start line is part of the adventure, but we’re making that part a little easier.

Athletes in both the 50 Mile and 50K can park at the Stokes County Government Center and take the pre-race shuttle to their start line.

🚌 50 Mile
Load: 3:40–3:55 AM
Departure: 4:00 AM

🚌 50K Early
Load: 5:00–5:25 AM
Departure: 5:30 AM

🚌 50K Late
Load: 5:40–5:55 AM
Departure: 6:00 AM

Shuttle tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance.

One important note: there will be no shuttles back to the start lines after the race. A complimentary shuttle for athletes and spectators will run between the finish and Stokes County Government Center from 11:00 AM–8:30 PM.

Full shuttle details and ticket information are on the PM2HR website.

Two weeks out!

At this point, there’s not much left to prove in training. The work is in the bank. Now it’s about taking care of yourself, trusting what you’ve built, and getting ready for the miles ahead.

Two weeks until we’re standing at Pilot Mountain.

Two weeks until the trail starts unfolding toward Hanging Rock.

Two weeks until all those training miles become one big day on the trail.

It’s getting real 😳

Course Highlight: The Middle Miles

The views from Pilot Mountain might get you to the start line, but the middle miles are where PM2HR really starts to unfold.

You’ll leave Pilot Mountain behind and settle into the Sauratown Trail, trading the excitement of the start for long stretches of trail, rolling terrain, and plenty of time to find your rhythm.

This is the part of the course where patience matters.

Settle in. Keep moving. Take in the miles.

There’s still a long way to Hanging Rock.

How do you like to stay engaged during the middle miles of a long run/race?

Thinking About PM2HR?

This might be your sign.

We’re getting close to our 500-runner cap, and there are still a few spots left for Pilot Mountain to Hanging Rock.

Whether you’ve been training for your first ultra, eyeing the 50K, or putting together a relay team, there’s a place for you on this course.

You don’t have to feel 100% ready. You just have to decide you’re ready to take it on.

Registration is open, but not for much longer.

PM2HR Gear Check: Know Your Drop Bag

If this is your first ultra, drop bags might be new territory. Here’s how they work at PM2HR:

At check-in, we’ll give you a bag for your gear. You’ll drop it at the start, and we’ll take it out on the course for you.

50 MILE: Your bag will be waiting for you at Aid Station 5 on Maizie Lane before continuing on to the finish.

50K: Your bag will be waiting for you at Aid Station 7 on Rock House Road before continuing on to the finish.

Use it for the things you may want later in the race: fresh socks, extra layers, nutrition, hydration supplies, or anything else that will make those later miles a little more comfortable.

Drop bags will then go straight to the finish line with post-race clothes or snacks.

A few things to remember:
• Bags must be the ones provided at check-in
• They are 20” x 24” x 4”
• You’ll need your bib number to claim your bag

A little planning now can make race day a whole lot easier.

Full drop bag details on our website, link in bio.
