The Dojo

Aluminum training weapons we made for the Dojo. 10 years and they are still working well. (When they get dented up we sand them down so they are smooth again).

Fighting drills. They teach people to handle pressure, contact & fight stress.

BLACK BELT TESTING.
It’s rare for people to reach Black Belt in our style. It’s been 4 years since it last happened.

We train all 4 fighting ranges plus locks & throws -As well as using & defending weapons -we focus on “war arts” -so there is the full spectrum of martial skills to attain mastery in. And that will take time.

I’m also very old school in my belief & philosophy on what makes a “real” Black Belt.
Getting proficient and functional at self defense is something most people can achieve (and fairly quickly).

But getting to a Black Belt level of skill & technical mastery is not possible for most people. They are the 1%.

(Kids martial arts and martial sports and “budo” arts a whole other animal. A 9 year old Black Belt makes no sense to me. Although congrats to the kid for excelling in the curriculum he was taught. Lol. But he’s not a real Black Belt by my -or most old school Sensei’s- standards. Many of the sport karate Black Belts aren’t at that level either)

Black Belt Test on Monday. These guys in the pic have been training for over 8 years to get their 1st degree Black Belt (“shodan”).
Congrats to them. They earned it and it was well deserved.

The new Dojo bumper stickers arrived. I’m pleased with them.
