Our first summer series at The Overlook is officially in the books, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible people who helped make it such a success.

Launching a new show series was a tremendous undertaking—from the construction and preparation of the venue to the countless hours spent making each show-day run smoothly. None of it would have been possible without the dedicated team behind the scenes. A heartfelt thank you to Aunt Tessa for keeping the office running seamlessly, Debbie, Mike, and Debbie Smith for their hard work in the concession stand, and Maddie for the many ways she supported the series behind the scenes. This would have been impossible without all of you.

We are equally grateful to the exhibitors, trainers, clients, colleagues, and horses who filled the classes and supported this venture from the very beginning. Your enthusiasm and participation transformed an idea into a thriving series even after a very wet start!

Creating a local show venue on this hillside has been a personal dream for many years. As with so many things at Liberty Line Farm, Zac is the one who turns vision into reality. His talent, dedication, and willingness to tackle every challenge are the foundation of so much of what we do here…I thank God every day for him. He also found his calling as an announcer so he has that to fall back on if needed 🖤

On a personal note— it has been incredibly rewarding to watch our students and horses grow through the opportunities this space has provided. We’ve logged plenty of show miles this summer, learned valuable lessons, celebrated achievements, and created memories that will last for years to come.

THANK YOU to everyone who played a role in making our inaugural summer series such a success. I almost died when I counted 17 in the walk/trot class this morning… as did all of the riders on fresh ottbs ☺️ Thank you, you’re the backbone of this sport. This is only the beginning, and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds!

As horse trainers, we all see a lot of angst, drama, fear, and anxiety at horse shows, Daphne Thornton writes. Sometimes, it’s not even ours. Kids and drama seem to be able to find each other in a crowd. When you add in horses, judging, and parents spending a ton of money… things can escalate quickly. Sometimes perspective is hard to achieve.

I like to look at it this way—horse shows are nothing more than a great big bowl of life lessons. You can take a bite. You can eat the whole thing. Or, you can go hungry.

What lessons can you learn at horse shows that apply elsewhere in life? Well, for starters, these:

1. Very few people will know, or care, if you do well. Those few include your mother, your small handful of close friends, and your trainer. This is actually a good thing. All the people who you think are watching you actually aren’t.

2. A small-ish number of people will actively hope you do not do well. As we say at Two Bit Training, “That’s fair. I can live with that.” And, most of them aren’t watching either.

3. The rest of the world…Does. Not. Care.

4. 80% of the work that is done in the world every day is done by people who are hot, cold, tired, or hungry. You will be hot, cold, tired, or hungry some days. Keep going as best you can. And if you need a break and can take one, do it.

It does not have to be toxic… there are too many kind and fun horse loving women out there ♥️♥️

To whom it may concerns

To the Karen who snitched to Facebook and got my page flagged and almost banned, for community guidelines violations, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Why would I thank you you may ask. Because for 25 years I have been trying to convince my husband that I should have a barn full of fancy horses in my backyard and just enjoy being a fancy wife.
But because I come from humble beginnings and I married for love, I have had to sell horses over the years to fuel my passion and make a living with horses.
By trying to ruin my business because I offended you posting me longing my horse, or posting my 1m40 jumper popping over flower boxes or God knows what other offensive content twisted your panties, you are actually helping my master plan to come to fruition.
Muhahaha…
Jokes aside, while I have made so many amazing connections and friends through Facebook over the years, I have to say that this is by far the most toxic social media environment.
I am fairly active on Instagram and TikTok and if I cross post, I always get absolutely shredded to pieces on here, while being praised on other platforms.
Do older ladies (and I’m one of those) have a mean girl mentality?

I manage my husband’s social media in Motorsport and I never see the level of pettiness I see in my comment section on his.
On his it’s a bunch of fairly wealthy dudes, happy to play with their race cars and just sharing passion and hyping each other for doing it.
In the equestrian community, we are dealing with a very judgmental negative crowd who thrives on tearing each others down. Why is that?
Don’t tell me it’s money. There is a crap load of money in auto racing as well.
Only thing I can think of is that auto racing is male dominated.
And horses is a mainly female dominated field. I’m a fierce feminist and a girls girl and it hurts me inside to say this out loud that women are making Facebook a crappy place.
To all of you the cool girlies, keep up the good work and the positivity. To all of you the negative Nellies and Debbie downers, I will teach you an invaluable life skill.
Take your right index finger and make a big swipe from the bottom to the top of the screen, and “POOF” just like that any offensive content disappears forever from your screen.
It has a 100% success rate.
You do not need to take the time to comment and be rude and make your point.
Again swipe up.
And to all the people who tell me : well if you post online you should expect to get negative feedback.
Really? So when you take a picture of your food, kids, vacation and decides to publish it on your page, your expectation is : well I hope they all tell me that my kids are ugly, that my food looks gross and that I shouldn’t have traveled there.
No, getting negative criticism shouldn’t be a given or the norm. Sorry…

Anyway, off I go to ride my ponies that i can now keep forever and ever…

Taking Friday off at LLF… thanks for your understanding as we prioritize horse welfare!

Due to the wildfires in Canada, our area is experiencing a high level of smoke leading to decreased air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) provides information on how the air may effect us and our horses.

Smoke can cause eye irritation, respiratory irritation, exacerbate pre-existing respiratory conditions, and reduce lung function. Horses with *pre-exiting respiratory conditions* are at increased risk and should be kept in a cool area where they can be closely observed. Currently we are recommending avoiding forced exercise for all horses until the AQI improves.

If you have any questions or concerns, please be sure to contact your veterinarian.

Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated Independence Day the way we know best—horses, competition, and great company. With perfect weather, plenty of friendly competition, and an incredible group of riders and supporters, it was truly a wonderful day. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make it such a special event!
