SWIM UPSTREAM. 🐟

Any dead fish can float downstream.

But it takes a live and active fish to swim against the current.

The world will always have a current.
A direction it wants to pull you.
A standard it wants you to accept.

Following the crowd is easy. Standing in the gap takes courage.

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap…”

God wasn’t looking for everybody.

He was looking for somebody willing to stand.

Don’t simply drift wherever culture, circumstances, or the people around you take you.

Be willing to be different.
Be willing to stand when others won’t.
Be willing to swim upstream.

Anybody can float downstream.
It takes someone ALIVE to swim against the current.

SELF-CONTROL.

“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”
Proverbs 25:28

In biblical times, the walls around a city were its protection.
No walls meant no defense.

Think about that in your own life.

Can you control what you eat when nobody is watching?
Can you get to the gym when you don’t feel like going?
Can you control your attitude when things don’t go your way?
Can you say NO to what feels good now for what you want most later?

Self-control is your wall.

Without it, your goals, your habits, your relationships, and your walk with God are left exposed.

You don’t have to say yes to every craving.
You don’t have to act on every emotion.
You don’t have to follow every feeling.

Build the wall. Practice self-control.
