It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of a dear friend’s recent passing. Many of you knew Dave Burner, a long-time resident of Darby and tremendous supporter of the Darby Rodeo Association. Please allow us to share a bit of Dave’s life.

David L. “Dave” Burner born April 5, 1939, was a respected business leader, devoted family man, and valued member of the Darby, Montana community. Dave passed away on October 1st of this year at the age of 87.

Dave graduated from Ohio University and began his career in accounting before joining the BF Goodrich Corporation. Through the years he served as President, CEO, and Chairman, leading the charge in the transformation of Goodrich into a major global aerospace and defense business.

After retiring, Dave and his wife Sandy settled at Stardust Ranch in Darby where they enjoyed the outdoors while welcoming family and friends to their Montana lifestyle home. Dave was tireless in his involvement in the community and local organizations and proudly served on countless Boards including the Darby Rodeo Association Board. He is remembered as a trusted leader, mentor, and family man. And his legacy reflects a lifetime of professional achievement, generosity and service.

Dave is survived by his wife Sandy (who currently serves on the Darby Rodeo Association Board), his children and many grandchildren. In his memory the family appreciates donations to Darby Rodeo Association, Darby Community Public Library, Bitterroot Land Trust and Hope Hospice Center in Missoula.

God bless and keep you Dave, and happy trails until we meet again. You are greatly missed.
