Carrington immediately posted “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever.” The league and Cunningham have rejected the idea that race played a role, but fans are now circulating clips of Caitlin Clark making similar-looking contact in other plays without being ejected, raising questions about consistency in WNBA officiating. And THAT is the conversation. White privilege doesn’t always mean somebody walks into a room and announces, “I’m treating the white player differently.” It can show up in who gets the benefit of the doubt, whose actions are viewed as accidental, and who receives the harsher consequence.
