Guys, today we lost a legend — a father, scholar, husband, grandfather, teacher, mentor, and friend.

Today, our Grand Master and Dudu’s father, Grand Master Alvaro Barreto, passed on to the other side, where I know he will be teaching the angels his incredible Jiu-Jitsu skills. 🙏

I only had a brief time with him, but in that time I learned so much. One of the greatest lessons he taught me was that we are here to give our knowledge without expecting anything in return, but with the responsibility to make sure the tradition and values of Jiu-Jitsu never die.

Don’t worry, Master. We will not let you down. Your teachings, your values, and your legacy will continue through all of us and through every generation that steps onto the mats.

At this difficult time, we are sending all our love to Dudu and his entire family. Please know that we are here for you, and we will always do our part to help carry your father’s legacy forward on the mats.

Rest in peace, Grand Master. 🙏🥋
