Saturday's comp was really fun. .peterson.insta and I partnered up for the day and landed in second place. We were happy to be consistently second on all of the events as well.

Event One: The CrossFit Total. We were given 15 minutes to find our max back squat, max strict press, and max deadlift. It was interesting to have a time limit on both the warm up and the lifting. I had practiced each element, but not together. It felt totally different in this setting.

Event Two: Strongman. There were three parts to this, all held outside on their basketball court. There was a sandbag carry with burpees, a dumbbell carry with box step ups, then a sled push and pull.

Event Three: Swim. This was also in three parts. There was a swim while the other partner held a plank, then a swim with one partner doing assisted wall muscle ups at the end and the other doing ball slams. The third part was with both partners in the water bringing the slam ball to the other end and back.

It is always fun to take what we practice to another setting and see how it stacks up. Part of what I love about CrossFit is the constant ranking and constant competition. It's nice to have a focus for training, and to geek out on parts of the whole. It's fun to chat with folks from other gyms and it was nice to spend the day watching the other heats.

Thanks for the fun, .peterson.insta . Thanks for the training plan and help and confidence and support and empathy and integrity . Thanks for the inspiration and support from and the whole community. And thanks for the help and confidence in my process from . And to my kids for keeping it real.

Thinking of WHY we choose our particular journey often helps keep us on track. When things get Hard, and they always do, WHY stay the course? What's YOUR why? I'd love to hear it ⬇️.

It's not always interesting to repeat and repeat, but if you're repeating the right things, you'll reach your goals. ➡️ What are you working on? ⬅️

I learned a LOT in the handstand walking clinic I took this afternoon. What you see here is me kicking up with a jump instead of momentum, and (hopefully) a better "hollow" (braced) position in the hold. We also learned how to fall, how to cartwheel in and out of the handstand, and did some walking with partners. It was really cool and I have a LOT of practice to do.

Oh, the end of the Open. Ready to go back to regular training sessions but still loving the energy and community. My goal for the Open this year was to Rx all the workouts.

I went into Friday Night Lights thinking I would see if I could do a chest to bar pull up, and that I would scale if I couldn't. I got some tips in the warm up area and didn't get close. I warmed up some more and still nothing.

I set up my station to scale the workout and my judge walked out and said, "You're not scaling this. You can do it. Show me one." I tried a few times then got one with about one minute to go time. We scrambled to trade out my #45 bar for the #65 and I went for it.

In no real rush, I split the thrusters into 5s. Then, time for C2B. For each C2B, my judge gave me tips. I looked around the room and saw how everyone else was doing it. After a couple, I realized I had to throw my head back and arch up and jump into the bar. Then I got into a rhythm of steady singles with lots of breaks for chalk and my fair share of no-reps. My buddies watching cheered us on through the no-reps and the energy in the room really pulled me to the end. I thought I could get maybe 7-15 C2B (if I could manage just one) and ended up with 46 (!). Thanks to .peterson.insta
and Malinda and

That was really a fun workout, and a fun Open, and I ended the Open with a 10 # PR on my clean and a new skill of C2B. And I met my goal to Rx all of the workouts. I also have a list of things to work on (double unders, bar muscle ups, and handstand push-ups). I'm super psyched about how the Open went, and how it ended. I was able to push a little harder, and play a little more. Thank you to my intuitive and inspiring coach for the coaching and for the community. 💜❤️💚

19.3 is done. Did it with ~ It was way better to do it with a friend and way harder than and made it look at the announcement at Thursday night! 💪 I did just about how I expected to do. Had some time to try the handstand push-ups and tried a few and didn't get all the way down. Then I remember I couldn't even kick to a handstand confidently when I started 🌟 and am happy with the progress.
