Really miss the smiles and laughter this place brought to so many. Just driving up, used to bring such excitement and anticipation of the night's adventure.

Looks like something BIG is happening in Kettering. You may know Kenny Brightman from the Dayton Cars & Coffee. He is planning something big in Kettering for the automotive enthusiasts! We like to see things like this for the Miami Valley. 😎🏁

We’re deeply saddened to hear the passing of John ‘Higgy’ Higgins. He was an incredible businessman, filled with enthusiasm, and was the life of the party. The world will miss his striking humor and his we’re ‘here to win’ racer attitude.

Professionally, in 1989 he and Bobby Rahal founded Lexus of Dayton, opening one of the first dealerships of the brand in the US. He was a legendary businessman and visionary dealer.

On the track, he most notably won the 1987 12hrs of Sebring in the Camel Lights class, landing on the podium in 1984 and others in 1987 and 1988 in Camel GT. John turned to vintage racing later in his career behind the wheel of a Chevron B21, Fabcar-Porsche, a Porsche 910 and more. He and Howard Cherry won the Daytona Rolex Enduro in 2000 and a landed a win with co-driver Bobby Rahal in a 2003 three-hour enduro at Mid-Ohio.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Keep turning laps and pushing harder… until we meet again.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Wartenberg, a close friend to the Taj Kreuzers SpeedFest family. Richard was the captain of the tragic UPS flight 2976. You may have seen him at several of our many SpeedFest events. He brought his warm smile & great conversation with him whenever he attended. He had served as a pilot in the 89th Airlift Squadron assigned to the 445th Operations Group, stationed at Wright-Patt. He rose to the rank of Lt Colonel before retiring from the US Air Force Reserves. You may have even seen him flying missions over the Miami Valley. The aviation world & car enthusiast world will certainly miss him. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, International Relief Officer Captain Dana Diamond, all the victims on the ground, and to all those that knew them.

The Dayton automotive scene has lost another giant. Skip Peterson passed away peacefully in his sleep. He worked mostly behind the scenes taking photographs & writing articles for The Dayton Daily News. Skip help start & chaired the Dayton Concours d'Elegance. He helped bring it to the forefront of Dayton's automotive scene in all of its iterations. The Dayton Concours was considered the best kept secret in the Concours circuit. You'll find Skip mostly behind the camera but occasionally bringing out his personal MG to enjoy in sunnier weather. Here's to sunny skies & easy drives!

This is a tough day for the Dayton Concours committee and the Dayton car community. We have lost our leader Skip Peterson. He passed away peacefully in his sleep last night.
