In 1999, Jim Rosenthal took up the torch to carry martial arts forward when his professor moved out of town — stepping into a role of responsibility to keep the training alive. This was the inception of Tenbears Martial Arts Academy. With roots in boxing from the late 70s and early 80s, combat sports have always been a driving force in his life.

What he loves most about running Tenbears is seeing people face their fears — from little kids stepping on the mats for the first time to adults challenging themselves in new ways. The students, both kids and adults, are what keep him motivated every single day.

And when he’s not at the academy? You’ll usually find him resting, exercising, or reading.

At Tenbears, it’s about more than martial arts — it’s about growth, confidence, and community. 💥
