We’d like to introduce our new Head Coach, Trish Miles!
A founding coach of the Dayton Boat Club, Trish comes to the role with more than 35 years of rowing and coaching experience at the junior, collegiate and masters levels. In fact, she and husband Mike brought the first competitive rowing to Dayton in 1991 by launching the University of Dayton Rowing Club, elevating it several years later to an NCAA Division I program and laying the groundwork for the first Atlantic 10 Championships in 1996. Trish was the head coach of the UD women’s team from 1991 to 1994 and its novice coach from 2021 to 2025. She coached the DBC masters from 2004 to 2006 and in youth programs for the next 14 years.
A teacher by profession, Trish has taught in several Dayton-area Catholic schools. She also owns a well-known food truck, C’est Cheese. However, she is most at home professionally in her coaching role.
“Coaching rowing has become so valuable for me because I get to see what great things it can do for athletes of all ages,” she said. “I have been so fortunate to see so many people discover something about themselves that they never knew they had.”
Trish has won multiple medals in lightweight events at club and elite championships. In 1999, she was a finalist for the U.S. national team, and she was the national champion in the lightweight single (club) and the lightweight double (elite). She won the gold medal in the masters single division at the Head of the Charles Regatta in 1999.
Welcome back to the DBC masters rowing program, Trish!
