Three children. One teacher. Gone in minutes at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon.

It could have been far worse.

Police say a 16-year-old shot his way through locked doors and opened fire inside the school Thursday afternoon. A man in the community saw him go in, followed him inside, and stopped him. Federal sources told Fox News he was carrying legally with a concealed carry permit.

When officers arrived about three minutes after the first 911 call, the shooter was already dead.

Now think about what the "gun-free" rules accomplished.

Back in 2022, Bend-La Pine Schools voted to bar concealed handgun license holders from carrying on school property. The board chair said it completed the district's commitment to gun-free schools.

The shooter didn't care. Killers never do.

A sign, a policy, a locked door, none of it slowed him down. The only thing that ended this attack was a law-abiding citizen with a gun who ran toward the gunfire.

Ask yourself what happens if he isn't there. Three minutes is a long time inside an elementary school with 450 kids.

Even Governor Tina Kotek, no friend of the Second Amendment, thanked the "community member who heroically intervened." Notice what she left out. Not one word about how he did it.

That silence speaks volumes. Admitting that a legally carried gun saved children wrecks the case for disarming people like him.

Gun control laws only disarm the people who follow them. The criminal shows up armed either way. We see it, time and time again.

Our hearts are with the families in Bend tonight. Our gratitude goes to the man who refused to wait.

If you’ve been to one of our trainings, we’ve talked about this!! Are you mentally prepared to make a split second decision?

One of these weapons was confiscated from a juvenile during the commission of a violent crime in one of our communities. Which one is a pellet gun and which one is a deadly weapon? Are they both deadly weapons? Are neither of them deadly weapons?

The point is unless you are very familiar with fi****ms it is going to be hard to identify them in this picture. More to the point, if a juvenile had one of these in their hands from 15 feet away or in the middle of the night, it is impossible to tell if it is a deadly weapon or not. This means that to any reasonable person, if a child was to brandish these or threaten someone with it, these are both considered deadly weapons.

I wanted to put this out there for our parents in the community. So everyone can see an example of what’s out there for kids to get a hold of. As a father I would never allow anything remotely resembling a real deadly weapon to be wielded by my children. Whether it has an orange tip or not. I consider this to be an unacceptable risk to their safety.

Ultimately there are very few regulations involving this issue and it is up to us as parents to be vigilant and decide what our children are playing with.

They keep trying…

In the wake of the Supreme Court's landmark Bruen decision in 2022, several anti-gun states tried a new tactic to undermine the right to carry.

Among other things, California, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York passed laws declaring that concealed carry would be prohibited in businesses open to the public unless the business owner specifically posted a sign allowing it.

These measures quickly became known as "Vampire Laws" because they effectively required lawful gun owners to obtain an invitation before exercising their constitutional rights.

Now, the Supreme Court has stepped in once again.

In a major victory for the Second Amendment, the Court ruled that these laws violate the Constitution, reaffirming that states cannot simply invent new barriers to lawful concealed carry.

This decision could have significant implications for gun owners across the country and serves as another reminder that the fight to protect our rights is far from over.
