🌸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟱 – 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗲’𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗶𝘀
Rosie had practiced her steps again and again.
Now it was time for her very first feis—an Irish dance competition.
When she walked into the hall, Rosie had never seen so many Irish dancers.
Different dresses. Different schools. Different ages. The room felt enormous.
Rosie felt tiny.
As she watched the other dancers warming up, she began to wonder whether she was good enough to be there. Then she remembered something Miss Susan always said:
“You aren’t here to be better than someone else. You’re here to become better than yesterday.”
Rosie took a deep breath. When her number was called, she walked onto the stage, pointed her toes, and waited for the music.
Then she danced her very best. Not to be better than the dancer beside her.
Not to win the biggest trophy. But to show herself how much she had learned.
When Rosie finished, she smiled.
She had been brave.
She had tried her hardest.
She had become a little better than yesterday.
That was enough.
Rosie was beginning to understand that success isn’t always measured by medals or placements. Sometimes, success is finding the courage to step onto the stage and give your very best.
💗 Every dancer’s journey is different. The most meaningful competition is with the dancer they were yesterday.

🌸 The Story of an Irish Dancer
Chapter 5 – Rosie’s First Performance
Rosie peeked toward the stage.
There were so many people watching, and her tummy felt funny.
Miss Shelagh smiled and whispered, “You already know what to do.”
The music began, and Rosie danced.
When she finished, the audience applauded—and Rosie realized something amazing:
💗 Being brave doesn’t mean you’re never nervous. It means dancing anyway.

✨ New steps loading… ☘️
These two are hard at work learning brand-new steps after some fantastic success at feiseanna this summer! 🏅🩷
Success means new challenges, and right now that means lots of concentration, repetition, and those very serious “I’m trying to remember what comes next” faces. 😂
So proud of their summer accomplishments and excited to see what they do next!

Every step they take helps build the dancer—and the person—they’ll become. 💗
At McGovern Irish Dance, children learn much more than steps. They build confidence, discipline, friendships, teamwork, and leadership skills that stay with them far beyond the dance floor.
