Bruce Lee’s 1970 back injury was a huge event in his life but it’s real impact is rarely understood or acknowledged. Whilst recovering from the incident he studied (according to his wife Linda), all the works of the psychological/spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti.
This meant that his whole outlook on life, on the martial arts, on film work, ALL went through a radical transformation. His JKD pre Krishnamurti, was nothing like his JKD post Krishnamurti.
The way Bruce thought and expressed himself changed dramatically after he read Krishnamurti and his message of “freedom from the known”. After studying Krishnamurti Bruce became an advocate of having “no way, as way”… he wanted to practice a “styleless style”.
Yet on all the main YouTube channels about Bruce, Krishnamurti is never mentioned… in books about Bruce, the Krishnamurti connection gets little attention… and in the 1993 movie biopic “Dragon” there is zero mention.
In my experience the massive impact of Krishnamurti on the dragon is still largely unknown and ignored. Sadly, you cannot understand Bruce without understanding Krishnamurti.

I wonder what Bruce Lee would have been like 52 years later???
He was cheating on his wife so, he’d be divorced at least once. Probably more kids, like Clint Eastwood around eight. Give or take one or two. A couple probably would’ve grown up in China in a couple growing up here in America. We know Brandon went into movies, but yet his sister did not. But who knows maybe one or two would’ve also went into the movies maybe one or two would’ve Stuck with martial arts maybe even got into mixed martial arts as a profession. Of course you’d also have grandchildren by now. He probably would’ve directed a few movies by now. He tried to bring a degree of realism to his movies. He also tried to express a Marshall philosophy. Probably would’ve also had a few books on the market. I wonder if he would’ve ended up on TV like Chuck Norris dead. I’m sure he would’ve been a lifelong martial artist like Chuck Norris has been. I wonder if he would’ve been involved in politics? I don’t think he would’ve Been active on the left or the right but I think he would’ve been vocal in the middle. I wonder if he’d have a podcast? Or YouTube channel? I wonder what Jackie Chan‘s career would’ve been like? He kind of stepped up and filled the void Bruce Lee left. But he had to change. He made his martial arts movie, more comical. Or would he be more like Jackie Chan and less like Chuck North? I almost think a combination of the two. I sure hope he wouldn’t have gone the route of Steven Seagal or Jean-Claude Van Damme. Van Damme got into drugs and cigar, got into hotdogs. But yet you can still see them both pop up occasionally with a UFC fighter.Wouldn’t it be interesting if Bruce Lee had actually kind of ended up taking the direction at Tom Cruise did.
