Northern's 10,000 seat Convocation Center is a $36 million multipurpose facility that hosts a variety of events. As the center for social, academic, and athletic events on campus, the Convocation Center is the single venue that can bring the university community together at one place and one time to share an experience: the very definition of community.

131 years ago, on July 15, 1895, DeKalb was chosen as the home of the Northern Illinois State Normal School.
