IMPORTANT CHANGES to Oelwein Meet:

The middle school races have been canceled.

We will still run both JV and Varsity races, with the JV races being shortened to the 1.25-mile course instead of the 5K course.

The updated race schedule is:

5:30 PM – JV Girls – 1.25 miles
5:45 PM – JV Boys – 1.25 miles
6:00 PM – Varsity Girls – 5K
6:25 PM – Varsity Boys – 5K
We are also taking additional precautions to help manage the heat. We will have water stations available along the course, misting fans, plenty of ice available, and an ice bath on site if needed.

Before summer I told the cross country team that I'd like them to record their summer mileage for me to see. I also had them set a summer mileage goal. These nine (and one not in the picture) accomplished both. Today they received their awards.

In farming, you cannot expect to harvest in the fall if you haven't planted the seed in the summer. It's no different in this sport.

The first week of practice is done. They all have some assignment for the weekend’s activity. Our next official practice will be on Monday, August 17 at 3 PM. I will be sending out a week summary through Bound. We didn’t have everyone for the morning photograph, but presently we stand at 55 strong. 💪 Wow!

WEATHER POLICY:

We WILL have practice on time today and every day this week (7-9:00am) regardless of storms. Alternative options for running outside can be made for safety, but dress accordingly.

Unless there is thunder and lightning we will run outside!!

Please plan on arriving at the stadium, unless it is raining or storming. Then drop off is at the cafeteria doors.
