Freedom does not come without a price. We may sometimes take for granted the many liberties we enjoy in America, but they have all been earned through the ultimate sacrifice paid by so many of the members of our armed forces.
Thank you to those that gave their lives for our freedom!๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ

When you react, you let others control you.
When you respond, you are in control. Bohdi Sanders
At first, this quote appears to be nothing more than word play, but the fine line between reacting and responding is very important. When you react to what another person says or does, you are allowing the other person to direct your actions. Many people will figure out your "buttons" and push them at will in order to get you to "react" just as they want you to. When this happens, they are in control of how you think and act. You don't want this. Never give another person that kind of power over you.
Whenever someone is pushing your buttons, it should be a clue to you that you are starting to get emotional. Take a breath and think rationally. Most of the time, when someone is trying to get you to react, they are doing so for some agenda, usually unknown to you. So what do you do when someone is pushing your buttons?
You slow down and think. Think about why they are doing what they are doing. Think about what their objective is, what is behind their actions. Then you choose your response rationally and wisely. Don't take the bait.
This puts you in charge instead of the other person, which is exactly where the warrior should be โ in charge of his own thoughts and actions. Never take the bait that is designed to get a reaction out of you; calmly and carefully respond and you will take the wind out of their sails. This is another example of winning without fighting. There is much to be considered before the sword is drawn. Baltasar Gracian
Fighting is serious business. Even when you win a physical conflict, there is a very real chance that you will not walk away from it unscarred. I have won many fights, but have ended up with the short end of the stick in the long run in a couple of them. Breaking a bone in your hand can take well over a year to heal. Sure, you may have won the fight, but the other guyโs black eye and busted nose will be healed much quicker than your broken hand. This is only one of the many things that you must consider when it comes to fighting.
The bottom line is that you should never fight unless you absolutely have no other options. The warrior realizes this. He is not out to prove himself to others or to test his martial arts skills in the streets. Warriors know how fragile the human body is and how easily it can be damaged, especially by a skilled fighter. Fighting can cause more problems than you can imagine. It is not the carefree brawl which is depicted in so many movies and television shows.
Every fight carries with it the very real possibility of death, even if no one is consciously attempting to mortally injure the other person. Many people have died in fights which consisted of only one punch. People get hit, fall, and hit their head on something, and thatโs that.
As Gracian states, there is definitely much to be considered before things get physical, and these things have to be considered ahead of time. You have to know what you are willing to fight for and how far you are willing to go before you find yourself in that spot.
