Fitness Tip Tuesday! 💪🏼

The Squat is a functional movement, which we happen to do daily. Picking up your kids, lifting items from the floor, sitting and standing from a chair. They are all variations of a squat.

Squats strengthen the muscles in your quadriceps, glutes (hips), hamstrings, (prim movers) lower back and core (stabilizers).
This exercise can also help in improving your posture and balance.

If you want to start using this movement in the gym start by doing body weight squats, with no additional weight to work on your form. As you gain confidence in executing the movement, you can add extra weight using dumbbells or a barbell, progressing with more weight over time.
(It is always advisable to consult with a fitness professional to ensure that the movement is done correctly.)

General information

Say Fitness is an exclusive personal training facility that focuses on results and safety.
We have an extensive screening process which consists of a medical history questionnaire, taking resting heart rate, blood pressure, circumference measurements, body composition measurements (weight, body fat percentage and BMI), lung function testing, cholesterol screening, and metabolic testing. By doing metabolic testing, we are able to determine a client’s resting metabolic rate, VO2max and target heart rate zones. We then create a customized strength & conditioning and cardiovascular conditioning program based on the client’s health, needs and goals.
All of our personal trainers are nationally certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), or the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
