Pluggy’s Town is glad to have added a few new players to our roster this year. Bean Counter has been an integral part of our team’s success with his pitching and his infectious smile is why we all play this game. Name: Benjamin Chapa

Position: Pitcher

Funny sports story: I remembered that at the end of my Junior baseball season, we won our first game, and in celebration, I grabbed the water cooler and gave the coach a celebration shower.

What job would you do if you could do anything in the world: I would love to be an accountant for one of the Major Ohio sport teams.

The Battle of Old Wh**ey continued this weekend. You may ask, what is Old Wh**ey?

“Old Wh**ey was a war horse. He actually survived 19 Civil War battles. He was pure white which made him an easy target for sharpshooters. However, because of his speed, stamina and jumping ability he was able to survive the war. He had belonged to another soldier who was shot. After that the horse became possession of Rutherford Hayes.

After the war Old Wh**ey was brought to Spiegel Grove the home of Rutherford B. Hayes. He lived there until his death. He is buried next to President Hayes at Spiegel Grove.”

Today we took the field with the Spiegel Grove Squires and played in a field with ankle deep water in several spots. Also, the field may or may not have moved halfway through the game but we won’t say. We’re just glad the rains finally stopped to allow us to play. As I said during our game, I don’t play for the score, I play for the smiles on our faces. Next year will be the third installment in the The Battle of Old Wh**ey.

President Rutherford B Hayes was born in Delaware, Ohio and his final resting place is in Spiegel Grove along with his wife Lucy. Saturday we’re excited to take the field with this great group of gentlemen the Spiegel Grove Squires.
