Hunters first buck with a bow. He is going to have a hard time beating this one. We got the call and after seeing the arrow I knew this deer was liver shot. We arrived at the 18 hr mark. Fletcher worked quick to the hunters last blood then within minutes we were another 400 yards standing on a wound bed with no dead deer in it. We were 50 yards from the next property line and needed permission to cross. This is why its important to get permission before hand. We had to wait a while to contact this land owner almost an hour. Fletcher got bored and started to loose intrest in tracking. At this point he thought we were giving up I circled with him in the woods a few times and took him back to the bed now with permission. He locked back on. Another 100 yards we were in a small food plot boom blood to confirm. He then transitioned from tracking to air scenting. I let him work it out a ways he was off. I took him back to the blood in the food plot. He took a different line nose down and there layed the buck 30 yards away. Great hound work on this one. One happy hunter and one happy tracking team. .

I was blessed with the opportunity last night to let one fly. So thankful for this buck.

To all the hunters I have tracked for. Just remember us trackers are the same as you and mistakes happen. I had the chance at a buck myself. Pulled back and I shoulder shot him with limited pe*******on. This was an instant punch in my gut. Its not over until its over and we are going to give it a go tomorrow with the hounds and pray I got enough pe*******on. Im in your shoes sick to my stomach and probably wont get much sleep. I am feeling all of the emotions you feel when you call tracker.

This track was about 650 yards. 16 hrs after the track fletcher took the line from the shot site. After a quick 400 yards we were at the hunters last blood going into a swamp 60 yards on the other side boom we had blood headed up a ridge. Fletcher worked it a short ways and we had a property stop. We gained permission to continue tracking and off we went. Fletcher was locked the whole way. I was calling out blood every 20 yards apart for another 200 yards and we were on the buck.

A proof of life for the last deer we tracked. We did advance the track but I did not think it was fatal. The neighbor sent him the proof of life picture tonight. Im glad the hunter has some closure as well as us.

We need rain and cooler temps for these hounds. The heat and dry conditions are terrible to track in for a dog. Good thing rain and a cold front is in the near future. We ran one tonight which I believe was non fatal or possibly one lung. But a one lung deer can be a rodeo to track and go a LONG LONG ways. The hunters last blood was at 250 yards and I put the pup on it to give fletcher a break from yesterday's track. Rip finally pulled a line after a cpuple restarts and a few hundred yards past last blood we had blood to confirm he was on. We advanced it further but with no sign to confirm. He was struggling though multiple water breaks but he was gassed. We had zero wound beds and believe the shot was a bit forward quartering away possible exit brisket.

Sometimes a dog is not needed. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT TO DO AS A HUNTER WHEN SOMTHING DOESNT GO AS PLANNED. This hunter couldn't have managed this track any better in my opinion. They shot this buck at 6 p.m. last night. They thought they double lunged this deer. When they got down and found the bolt they saw gut material on it. That told a different story. Instead of looking for blood or starting the track at all they backed out. They contacted me last night and told me what had happened. They wanted to go look in the morning. I will NEVER tell you not to go look for your deer but I will give some advice. My advice was wait time 12hr minimum (that is only for this time of year wait times get pushed back in the rut), leaving toilet paper along the trail in case a tracker is needed, and if they find a fresh bed or jumped him to back out, and to please not grid search if they lost blood. If they needed a dog we would come. They found him this morning withen 100 yards of being shot. He was hit in the gut and nicked liver and bottom of one lung. Congrats to the hunter!!! Remember advice is always free! Call or text anytime 231-384-5188

We got our butts kicked today. 0 for 2 on tracks. The first one i believe is a dead deer but went onto private we did not get permission to continue we did advance the track roighly 150 yards with confirmed blood then another 300 to the property line. The second one I dont believe is a dead deer and hopefully we get a confirmation of life in the coming days or weeks? In total today we have walked 9 miles. We are calling it a day a licking our wounds.

Our first track of the season is in the books. I decided to put Rip on it and keep Fletcher in the truck for back up. Rip started the track at the shot site. The hunter had found 1 drop of blood and part of his broken arrow. Off we go. Rip advances the track just over 200 yards to the buck on his first start. On lung entrance liver/gut exit. Good Job Rip. He will be used alot more this season than in the past. I always say I hope you never need us but if you do give us a call 231-384-5188.
