THE CUT 🥊
I spent years in martial arts — competing, promoting, teaching kids at my own school since 2006.
The best moment in nine Rocky films is one second in Moscow. It has nothing to do with the punch.
🩸 Drago bleeds for the first time. A corner can close that cut in thirty seconds. What turns the fight is his face.
He has just learned that something he was told was impossible is happening to him, in front of everyone.
Once a man learns he can be hurt, he fights differently for the rest of the night.
🏛️ Primary night. Deltona City Hall. Councilman David Santiago crossed the lobby and told me social media was not going to save me.
He may be right. A post does not win a county council seat. But a man who is comfortable does not cross a room to tell you what will not save you.
Here is what he had already tried. 👇
⚖️ Before a single voter weighed in, his side asked the Supervisor of Elections to take my name off the ballot. Not over my record.
Over paperwork. Wrong order on a treasurer form. A box not checked.
✅ On June 30, Supervisor Lisa Lewis rejected it. Removing a qualified candidate after qualifying takes a court, not her office.
On the merits, no statute and no case law requires the order they claimed or the box they cited. My treasurer was designated April 16, nearly two months before the deadline.
He did not lose on a technicality. He lost on the technicality he brought.
That attempt spent the two punches he had left.
🥊 Experience. He sells himself as the steady hand. A man who trusts his record does not try to clear the other name off the ballot before the bell.
🏘️ Residents. He talks about listening to District 5. The money behind that talk has come from outside this county, and from Tallahassee. This campaign takes no PAC money. It is funded by residents.
🌊 Same flooding. Same roads. Same votes on the record. The difference is everyone has now seen the tell.
📱 I do not need social media to save me. I need it to hand you the dates so you can check the record yourself.
He’s cut. He knows it. 🩸
🗳️ November 3. Two Davids on the ballot.
Pick the one who did not try to take the other one off it.
