The spawn is in full swing here on Lake Texoma. I’ve been catching lots of fish almost every day. We’ve been picking through a bunch of small fish and putting good boxes together pretty much every day. I believe that most of our big fish are up the rivers spawning but we still get a few almost every day. The rains that are forecast for the next few days will hopefully bring them back and send the ones that haven’t spawned yet up the rivers. When they return they will be beat up and hungry and it starts topwater season for me which is my favorite way to catch em. Winter fishing is truly one of favorite times and is typically a time when we catch bigger fish. The weather starting tomorrow is looking fantastic and I’ve got lots of dates available. The fishing has been very good lately here on the big pond. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and the fish are feeding. This time of year I generally start my trips around noon so you can sleep in and it’s definitely warmer during the middle of the day. I am fishing structure early and switching to deep water later in the day. The birds are working a little bit on most days for the last hour or two before sunset. This is the best time of year for big fish and much less boat traffic makes for really good fishing. I’ve got lots of open dates this time of year so give me a call to reserve your day. The air is cooler lately but the fishing here on lake Texoma has really been heating up. The birds are working and the bite is getting better by the day. It’s one of my favorite times of the year as the seagulls help find the fish and the loons have returned and are singing their song. The lake is returning to normal and the foliage is beautiful. The flooding earlier this year has certainly made it more challenging to fill the cooler than it has in recent years, but the fishing here on Lake Texoma has been improving lately. It’s topwater season and one of my favorite times of year. It brings in cooler weather and really gets the big fish on the feed. The birds will be arriving soon and the fish will be schooling up and running through the shallows and the flats. The lake tends to have less traffic and the foliage is beautiful. The lake is not closed. It might be a little different trying to find clean water to fish and the bite changes every day but we are still fishing. Another great day on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

Lake Texoma is still open and we are still fishing. The water is high and most of the lake is muddy but the fishing remains good if you know where to look. It is a challenge to get to my dock and there is no electricity but I am using a generator to make it work. You have to be careful due to the debris in the water but most of the water is clear on my end. I just got a new to me boat that is quite a bit nicer for my customers and especially women, as it has a place for girls to p*e below the helm. Lots less traffic since most of the ramps are closed. I expect the big fish to show up in the flooded timber any day now and that will make for some very good fishing. It is quite an adventure seeing the lake so high and gives you quite a different perspective with the flooding. All of the guides and local businesses depend on Lake Texoma for our livelihoods so if you’re the praying type we could all use an extra one. Another great day on Beautiful Lake Texoma!

It’s been an absolutely amazing bite all winter long, but I’m so ready for the warmer weather to get here. Spring is just around the corner and the fishing has been excellent lately.
