We can't wait to see all our cargo bike fam at DC Family Bike Fest 2026!

Join us Sunday Sept. 20, 10am-2pm at Alethia Tanner Park.

This huge, free event is one of our favorite family biking celebrations - featuring cargo bike demos, art activations, musical storytime, Kids Bike Parade, food trucks, workshops, gear swap, raffle and lots more.

Plus free tune ups and free sno cones - sponsored by Bunch & Veo!

You do not need a bike in order to enjoy Bike Fest! There will be tons of demo bikes and activities onsite for you to try.

If you do already bike, you can join one of several neighborhood rides converging on the Fest - many led by Bunch Squad members!



Fun Bonus Fact:

DC Family Bike Fest started in 2020 when an enthusiastic Bunch owner had the idea to organize a playdate meetup for her cargo bike friends - and invite folks who were cargo bike curious.

Bunch Bikes offered to sponsor sno cones for the event, expecting about 50 people to attend. (This was one of the earliest known Bunch Squad events - before the Bunch Squad officially existed!)

The event has grown every year since then, bringing in a wide range of bike shops, bike brands, cool partners, and community orgs. Most recently, Bunch Bikes covered 1200 sno cones!

This Bunch owner later took a job with Bunch Bikes, introduced the Bunch Squad program and now runs the DC Cargo Bike Library.

It's true tho - picking up by cargo bike, you can roll up 1 minute before the dismissal bell - right up to the pickup door - and roll home again 5 minutes after.

There is no need to wait in that 45 minute line of cars!

Kids and I visited NYC last week for one last family adventure before the start of the school year. We rented a Bunch Bike to get around with ease and it was AMAZING.

This was the most fun, least stressful trip we have ever had together... by far.

Some highlights:

* Visiting Whee! Family Cargo Bikes in Brooklyn

* Cargo bike meetup and storytime in Prospect Park with Dan Saks, author of ON OUR BIKES, and Doug Gordon, author of LIFE AFTER CARS

* Riding down the entire west edge of Manhattan on the gorgeous Hudson River Greenway... seeing the skyline get closer and closer.... then riding back again right at sunset

* Taking our Bunch Bike on the ferry to Governor's Island and enjoying a totally car free oasis

* Exploring all over Central Park, stopping to play at every playground and climb every statue

* Just everyday tourist fun - pizza and ice cream, parks and playgrounds, sightseeing and relaxing - but super easy and fun, especially at the end of the day with sleepy kids
