Did you know?
When the DAC opened its doors in 1890, one of the biggest attractions wasn't upstairs but it was downstairs in the bowling alley.
Members and guests packed into the basement to see one of Denver's first bowling alleys, complete with four lanes, spectator seating, tournaments and late-night gatherings that became a major part of Club life for generations.
The bowling alley was such a social hotspot that newspaper reporters covered its dinner dances, competitions and even beauty contests. And perhaps the most legendary story? A 16-pound bowling ball once crashed through the roof of a neighboring apartment building.
More than 135 years later, the DAC bowling alley is still bringing Members together for a little friendly competition.
Have you bowled a game at the DAC recently? π³π

Meet Matt Hartl π
If you've played basketball, pickleball, volleyball, bowled a few frames or booked time in the golf simulator, chances are you've crossed paths with Matt.
As DAC's Athletic Coordinator, Matt helps keep many of our athletic programs running smoothly while building connections with Members throughout the Club every day. His passion for sports started growing up in Maine, led him to earn multiple degrees in Sport Management and Recreation from North Carolina State University and continues today through coaching youth basketball players.
One of Matt's favorite parts of working at DAC is the people. Whether he's in the Wellness Center, coordinating leagues and events or helping Members around the Club, he's always on the move and ready to lend a hand.
Next time you see Matt around the DAC, be sure to say hello! π
