I have been getting onboarded at Uchealth memorial, and it's been a crazy week.

Between moving in with my new host family, adjusting to working 9 hours a day again, and trying to figure out my health routine while I'm here, I've been busy!

I'm going to be going to planet fitness again probably. Why you might ask? Because it's $10 a month and I am very very broke right now. I've been eating lots of eggs and turkey and leafy greens.

So basically just getting settled back into a rhythm here in my new location. Life is good and I'm grateful to God for setting me up in such a good spot with so many good people around me!

Me after 7 hours of classes, and then me after the gym AFTER ALL THOSE CLASSES! ๐๐๐

I was just talking today with my roommate about how shocked we were with our performance in the gym today. We were so dead after classes! As you can clearly see on my face in photo one. โ ๏ธ๐ฅด

But after moving some weight and a quick shower I was a brand new man! The endorphins that come after a good workout are like non-other and can make even the hardest of days melt away into the past. For this reason, I consider the gym as important for my mental health as my physical health. ๐งโฎ๏ธ

I am always striving to maintain a solid program that I enjoy so that I can look forward to the gym while also making the gains that I want. It's a balance that you can achieve, too! ๐ช๐ค๐ค

From this balance you can find your rhythm that keeps you going to the gym because of how it makes you feel, not because you "need to" or "have to". ๐ค

Why do I feel so strongly about this? It's because I was you!! I was a tall, skinny, lanky dude who knew nothing about weight lifting. I've worked for over 6 years to figure out what works best for a body like mine... Which is mostly limbs! ๐

I remember all the time I spent lifting weights and "working hard" in the gym to no avail. I didn't know how much to eat, i didn't know which exercises to do or how long to do them for. I had so many questions I didn't even know where to start! As a trainer, I seek to streamline the process and increase the efficiency of your process! ๐๐จ

Things I've learned as a tall lifter that I want to share! ๐ฃ๐คฉ

1) Being tall or lanky is not a bad thing! It certainly changes the way you may approach your training, but it can't stop you from making the gains that you want for yourself!!! ๐ค๐ช

2) You just can't look to other lifters to determine what is correct for for any given exercise. The length of your limbs changes what proper technique looks like. No need to compare! ๐
โข
3) Your training sessions don't need to be, and honestly, probably shouldn't be more than 1-1.5 hrs... 2-3 more compound exercises plus 1-2 isolation exercises and you're good to go! Just bring the focus and enjoyment to each workout and you'll see the benefits you want in less time! โฑ๏ธ๐จ

4) Being lanky has its advantages when it comes to sport and aesthetics!! Own the fact that you've got long limbs and be proud of it! Once you own that part of your identity you will truly be able to realize it's fullest capacity! ๐๐ค๐คฏ

A walk through the forest to calm the spirits before the coming storm... ๐ค๐ง

I have been blessed with an amazing opportunity in the coming 2 weeks. I have been offered a full scholarship by and to attend the live event!
โข
The event will be a gathering of current Doctors of Physical Therapy whom have chosen to open cash based private practices. I'm so excited to be a student at this conference and absorb all the wisdom and insight i can from the amazing minds gathered at this event. ๐งโ๐๐

At the same time I hope to be able to offer some insight of my own in hopes of elevating the perspective of each clinician I interact with via my experiences starting Tall Team Training as a student. โบ๏ธ๐๐๏ธ

I have been edging towards this path for so long, and now that I'm fully committed my energy to join the larger community and contribute has never been greater! ๐๐ฅ๐คฉ

Today was a day to check my ego at the door and do some retraining! ๐ช

I lowered the weight on this new quad dominant deep squat I've been doing. Last week when I did it I felt a small twinge in my knee. ๐ฌ๐ฑ
โข
A younger me would have freaked out and thought I had damaged one of the tissues in my knee. I would have stopped training legs for a whole week or two just to make sure I was good, losing progress along the way. ๐
โข
Instead I took a normal amount of rest, focused more on my hamstrings the next session, and then came back today looking to PERFECT my techniques!! ๐ค๐ค
โข
Boy did I nail it! I only needed to drop the weight a little bit to be able to up my focus enough to nail the form and I still got a great quad pump from all the time under tension. ๐ฅ
โข
If PT school has taught me one thing it's that our bodies are so resilient. ๐
โข
These days my training and my programing for clients doesn't deal in extremes of going all out and or stopping completely... It's about longevity, progress over perfection, and enjoying the process! ๐

How do you get to this place? Make a solid plan that focuses on the things you already know you like, and combines them in a way that results in overall enjoyment of executing the plan. ๐
